While I was shooting my new documentary, Beyond the Pain, I was lucky enough to get permission to sit in on a photo shoot with the exceptional photographer Martin Schoeller. Martin is known for his portraits of celebrities like Jack Nicholson and Bill Clinton, among many others. It is a big deal and great exposure for the sport that he has turned his lens upon female bodybuilders!
Here's a clip of him working that I posted on my blog...

For me his photos are a powerful and unique statement by a patient artist. I envy his ability to strip away almost everything we've come to expect in a photograph...no costumes, no props, no scenery, no backdrop, sometimes no makeup, no sense of place or time or fashion, put his subject at ease and get an unselfconscious image of the real person. I aspire to do that in every video I shoot!
