Vitamin D3 injections- has anyone tried?

Ridiculous. There is no need to inject things that have high oral bioavailability and no extra benefits via injection. Just take a well made D3 K2 supplement.

I have taken Life Extension D, K & Sea Iodine for a decade now. Often 15-20k iu daily.
If I were to look elsewhere, Jym has a great formulation and so does Leviathan.

Make sure you are getting Vitamin K2 in the mk-7 form when evaluating the labels.

My Vitamin D3 came from a compounding pharmacy so I would assume it's well made.

So bloodwork doesn't count for showing low levels of D3 taken orally for a year, but when I started Injectable D3 levels increased to 55 over a the year

Not everyone's body is the same some absorption is better for others.

Bloodwork Orally 25
Bloodwork Injectable 55

Ulcerative Colitis and NAFLD plays a part in absorption so how is it ridiculous to take something Injectable that absorbs better. Everyone is different

Having UC and NAFLD does definitely impede assimilation of several nutrients including Vit D.

What was the oral dosage? Was it made by a reputable company and taken with a large meal containing fat? Was vitamin K2, Magnesium (a form like glycinate) and perhaps Boron also taken?

I understand what you wrote...but instead of giving me reasons to inject Vitamin D, I'm relatively certain you could have tinkered around and achieved a great level orally. I have been able to achieve levels into the mid 90s and low 100s by taking 15-20k iu d3 with k2, mag etc.

The only way I could fathom injections being beneficial is if you have to take a really high dose orally and are not able to supplement with high amounts of K2. So basically..if you're on anti-coagulant meds like coumadin.

Edit: I now see Stewie's answer and that is a great contribution and learning moment. I still wouldn't be injecting it if all it did was take a little extra on the oral dosing but I'm interested in the answers/details.

My levels to begin with were 17 and my doctor had me start 100,000iu orally, and it was from a compounding pharmacy so I would assume it was high grade, after 1 year my levels were 25, so 8 points different from beginning. I took it with K2, Magnesium Glycinate and a high fat meal.

I'm not on any anyi-coagulant medications.

My doctor switched me to 50,000iu Injection and it increased 55, a 30 point increase with half the dose.

I do have NAFLD and UC, so what works for me won't necessarily be the best case for someone else.

I could see if I just started Injectable from the start, but we did try orally and my doctor said we would probably have to go up to 300,000 - 400,000iu and she didn't recommend that high orally if we was getting poor absorption.

I'm also in the sun numerous hours a day.

I wouldn't necessarily recommend Injectable if oral works for someone, but I just wasn't getting the results.

Are you sure your doctor wasn't giving you D2? Also, was that a once weekly oral dose?

100% positive D3 (Cholecalciferol) and yes once weekly oral dose. Same with Injectable once a week.

Years ago I use to take 2,000iu perday D3 with K2 and Magnesium Glycinate along with my other supplements.

I think with those two conditions it makes everything absorb poorly, when my bloodwork showed low vitamin D, Iron was low, Iron saturation was super low, Magnesium was on the low end. I've never had to many issues with my bloodwork but the last 3 years a lot has changed, and that is around the time we started finding my liver had some issues, my doctor said it's NAFLD, but when you read the report is does state mildly active steatohepatitis (mash)

I’ve done D3 injections during winter months and felt a noticeable difference in mood and recovery. The key for me was avoiding overdoing it—4000 to 6000 IU weekly was my sweet spot. Had a similar trial-and-error process like I did comparing fenugreek vs fennel for digestion, where personal response mattered more than any chart or article. Vit D3's definitely something I'll keep in my routine during low sunlight seasons.
