So again it comes down to happiness. Do you know whats probably a lot healthier (especially for joint integrity, avoiding bicep and mcl/acl tears) than doing BJJ and gear? Probably doing yoga and no gear. Are you going to give it up? I tend to doubt it. So ones happiness comes into play here. I am a hair under 6'2" and I walk around at 251 or so and Ill be blunt....I am athletic at this height/weight. I just did a 2 mile hike up in the Utah mountains with my 2 (competitive soccer) teenage girls, people around us were crushed and could not make it....me? not a problem. I get out there and play soccer with them and yea they burn me because they are so fleet of foot, but again not a problem. Last vacation was a 33 mile bike ride followed up by a 22 mile bike ride.
There seems to be a slew of 20-30 year old young guys who comment on threads like this who say things so profoundly like they will just take off any and all muscle mass they built over decades of training no problem when they hit 40....and will hypothetically start playing chinese checkers and play pickleball for a hobby/health strictly for "longevity". They make it seem like they will have no problem walking around like a normal human being as soon as they hit 40 . Ill tell you right now if anyone thinks this who is a long time hardcore bber....no no you wont, unless you have severely compromised your own health with abuse and need to. In fact some of you young guys should snap a jpg of your posts hinting toward that thought process and save it to your desktop and make sure you revisit it when you turn 40, you will eat your words.
