Want Freedom? Learn How to Register to Vote

Updating from Ron Paul's newsletter:

Some of the opposition claims that I am not a "real Republican," whereas I am the only one in the race. And our campaign is registering new Republican voters by the boatload. None of my opponents is doing anything approaching that.

Of course, they pooh-pooh our success. "He's just registering Democrats and Independents and people who have never voted before." Well, yes. It's called growth. We are laying the groundwork for the primaries.

All over America, our support is wide and deep and growing, and young people are joining like never before. After the Dearborn debate, I went to the University of Michigan for a rally. 2,000 students turned out, something that has happened to no other candidate this year.

Dont sit on this guys, register to vote and reclaim your freedom!

It still amazes me that people with intellect cannot see that you pulling a lever in a voting booth does absolutely NOTHING.

Money rules the world. There are mechanisms in place far longer then we have been alive that run the show. It doesnt matter who you think is best, its who best serves the needs of a few. The few being the elite, the men behind the curtain so to speak.

I'll be voting for him... I love this country, but more of my freedoms are being taken away year after year. Some for safety issues, which is understandable. But I believe some have stepped over the line.

I was a big fan of bush, but now I am ready for his term to be over with! He is to stubborn, to admit when he is wrong, and he is enforcing some rediculous laws that really could be considered threats to our freedom. To tell you the truth I think any president could probably do a better job at preserving our rights than he did. He has used 9/11 as a crutch for his campaign, I hope the next person will not act the same way.

I know this is a bb forum and they don't want political post on here, but I don't see anything wrong with having this discussion as long as it doesn't turn into a flame-a-ton.

Seriously the media is fucked and they don't even pretend to serve the interests of the American people. The American media is one of the biggest threats to American Freedom that has ever existed. They are pretending Ron Paul doesnt exist. Everyone from the rest of the world would love to have a leader like Ron Paul for themselves. They are jealous that they don't have the option to vote for such a man as Ron Paul. This a special time for America.

The media is all about money and ratings. That's all it is to them, so no they aren't going to look after anyone or anything but their pockets. It's all about sensationalism. They are also going to slant things for the people they support. We've all seen how closed minded and bias the media really is. Classic... reminds me of the book Animal Farm by George Orwell.

Sesshomaru, thanks for posting the info on Paul. I'd like to learn more about him. I don't like Hillary and her socialist ways. There's no way I'm going to vote for her just because she is a women. I'm undecided right now.

You know... this does have a lot to with bodybuilding, because our freedom of choice is being taken away. There have been some people try to take away our rights to purchase simple OTC supplements. This has been a long battle that for the moment we won, but one day we may not be so lucky.

Here is a good source for keeping up with what the legislation is voting on regarding supplements http://www.naturalproductsassoc.org/site/PageServer?pagename=ta_takeaction You can even use their forms to write members of congress. Here is another link **broken link removed**

The nightly news is this latest scare and this latest outbreak. Keep you scared and you will keep watching.

This is why we ALL have to step and show that we're not going to be afraid and let our freedoms go.

Dont fuck this up Americans. A lot of of good people we know have sacrificed themselves with the latest busts because the government "wants to protect us" from ourselves.

As Sassy printed, its not going to stop at aas. They are trying to go after protein powders and other supps that we currently take for granted.

Voting is fucking EASY! Just register when on the form I posted above and get your friends and family to register too. Then come out and vote. You can vote early by mail if you dont want to find a voting booth. Seriously, it cant get any easier than that. If youre pissed about the current state of things, then vote for your freedom and have others vote with you.

Bumping this up because while its good to donate and talk about Ron Paul, it all means nothing if you dont vote.

Make sure youre registered before your state deadline.

That type of thinking is so dangerous to our society. "Those who sacrafice liberty for security lose both!"...

At no point should you ever sacrafice your rights for this alledged "safety." The government has its power because the people it governs ALLOWS them to, not the other way around. What Bush has done via his "signing statements" and enforcing the "unitary executive" is a desecration to the Constitution and to everything that this country was founded on. Warrantless wire tappings, suspension of Habeaus Corpus, government sponsored torture, waging a war which over 70% of Americans disapprove of, and the list goes on and on. If we elect these officials to vote and make decisions in our interests(which is not democratic by the way), and they fail to do so, making decisions which over half of the population is against, what good are they? what recourse do we have to say, no, this is not what I voted for you to do and I want it to change? We really have none to be quite honest...

Next point, the whole "war for oil" b/s. Give me a break, has anyone here payed $1.00/gallon in the last 4 years since this "war for oil" began. Seriously, please do not make statements which are not factual, have no factual backing, and which cannot be substantiated by any real evidence. The war was started under the guise of "search for WMDs," which of course we all know was a lie. Iraq, if anything, was a foothold and plan of action for an eventual assault on Iran, and nothing more. Saddam Hussein was one of the most stable leaders in that entire region, he held Iran at bay by a considerable margin. Now what do you have in Iraq? The people elected a so called "terrorist" organization into government. This war has done nothing to add stability to the region. Point in case, is that statements like "war for oil" just need to be totally excluded from argument, because they are just parroted statements propelled by one person talking out of their ass after the other.

If you look at our current state of government, it is not democratic at all. Democracy was designed so that 99 people could not supress the rights of 1 person. Majority rules unfortunately, when 51% of the population votes one way, 49% of the population has their rights supressed. Think about that. Going to the box to vote is only a small part of what we COULD be doing. We will sit on internet forums like this and bitch about the political situation in America for hours and hours, days, months, years, and then go about our lives (especially if we live comfortable lives, and are not pissed at the government for our shitty success in life). Ron Paul is the only candidate who makes sense, Hillary Clinton and Obama might as well be running for the Socialist ticket. The rest of the Republicans would like to see us play world policemen and infringe on other countries sovreignty for decades to come.

Very nice post.

There is an "oil-related" theory for the war. Saddam was going to switch Iraq's oil standard to the Euro. (Iran was going to do the same thing several years ago, but that discussion disappeared.) Think about all the countries that have to keep dollars in their banks because that is the only currency they can buy oil with. Oil that is used in so many ways besides gasoline. What if all those countries didn't need to hold all of that US currency anymore?

I get in arguments with my girlfriend and her family about freedom vs security. That is one of my favorite quotes, "Those who give up freedom for security deserve neither." In my personal life, I have found that many people often refer the founding fathers without actually knowing anything about them. I always ask them what they have read that was written by the founding fathers. The answer is almost always a blank stare.

There have been many instance in US history where freedom was given up for security. John Adams' Sedition Act - although few convictions, it affect the thoughts and actions of many; Lincoln's abolishment of Habeas Corpus; Wilson's 1917 Espionage Act - citizens were jailed for years for writing anti-war letters to the paper and the subsequent Palmer raids in 1919; Bush's Patriot Act + twisting of legal definitions - under which anyone (including US citizens) can be arrested on say-so alone and held without bail, without being charged, without access to lawyers or the outside world indefinitely. It has been a pendulum swinging and crossing to hover on either side of freedom vs security. The above examples were all during a time of war. As those wars ended and as outrage grew, balance was restored by the people and brave individuals. And here we are again... However this time it is a different war. It is war against a word, against a tactic. A war that has been carefully crafted and repeated to create a war that doesn't have an end. When will the pendulum swing back? Where is your line? The line when you say, "No more." Only you can answer that.

Well, I think I'm taking this even more OT. Back to the focus:

Go Ron Paul. Let's return our personal freedoms and rights! (Oh, some fiscal responsibility would be nice too.)

EDIT: Forgot to mention the Japanese internment camps as an example also.
