Ok.... this actually has nothing to do with competing but the same mechanism in the body that helps us dry out for shows. I was in class at my college today and one of the students turned 21. They said they were going to drink lots and lots of water all day before going out binge drinking tonight for her 21st birthday. I told her that by drinking too much water, you may in turn dehydrate yourself more. I was told I was retarded, and looked at awkwardly when mentioning ADH. The way I look at it..... a day long of excessive water intake will inhibit ADH, increasing the amount of water you are expelling. You then start drinking alcohol all night, once again further increasing ADH and decreasing water absorption. So therefore, just normal hydration would be better than already being diuretic before even having your first drink. Am I flawed in this thinking?
