Water retention from HGH and BP advice

Hello everyone,
I searched for this topic all over the forums and got some answers here and there, but I thought I’d ask here.

Recently started with HGH supplementation, 1IU a day with no sides, then bumped up to 2 after a week. 2 days into it, I noticed the water retention bloat a bit, but my BP was noticeably higher. I have had some hypertension for decades which is controlled (usually 115-120 over 75/78, ) with amlodipine 10 and losartan 25 in the mornings.

Today, I saw it go to 140/86 most of the day.
I am sure holiday food and not being on point nutritionally didn’t help, but- I’ll take any advice.

If it helps: 53, M, 190# 5’8” 12% body fat.

For now I’m backing off to 1 IU and monitoring. I don’t understand how the water retention effect happens on GH, so I’m unsure what to do other than stopping altogether if dropping to 1 IU still increases my BP that much.
Again, open to all advice from the veterans here. Thank you all.

I always get bloat when starting gh again. It always subsides after a couple weeks. Maybe bump up slower. Go to 1.5. I personally would have rode out the 2 iu until subsided. Then bumped it again. Keeping diet in check with cardio and lots of water intake. Maybe try carditone for Bp. I’ve been taking telimisartan and natokinase and it gets me close.

Thank you for the advice! With no changes BP back down to normal tonight, 132/78. So I guess I’ll ride it out with a slightly lower dosage as suggested, and add carditone just in case.

Increase slowly and keep diet clean. This is likely diet related at 2iu a day. Not to say some do not have issues tolerating gh but usually an issue related to diet but can be someone who is more responsive or less able to tolerate. Quality of product can also impact sides. Go slow, make sure diet is on point, keep sodium low and flush water. I do not have issues until I get past 5 a day but have used for many years and keep diet in check

Assuming the issues are directly from the hgh then you’ve essentially got 2 options

Lower the dose back down to the amount where you didn’t have the sides and titrate back up slower or not at all

Or

Keep at the same dose and ride it out usually the body will adjust to it over time

Got it, will do- just to be clear, when you say flush water, can you give me a bit of context? Does this mean to make sure I hydrate properly , or is there more to it..? Again, thanks!

Hydrate properly, many assume their intake is sufficient however if supplementing, training… you would be surprised at how much you may require to assist body in flushing system and hydrating tissue. Do not go insane however I make sure I get 8 liters daily, have done that for 30 years and found if I slack or diet slips too many days in a a row sides begin to spike

Perfect,

perfect! Thank you for that explanation!

Not a problem and be safe. I made a lot of mistakes but when I started information was not shared, access was limited and people did not really hep one another. The nice thing about this board is that there is a very high percentage of people willing to offer advice, help and a low percentage of fools. Be safe and not a popular opinion but many issues pertaining to water retention can be mitigated with proper diet and over the counter supps vs going the medicinal route. I get asked a lot, as an old fella in shape and obviously not natural what the secret is, to be honest the biggest secret is not a secret, it is diet, training and discipline. Stay regimented, monitor and make changes when needed. It is boring and does not give you the same thrill as blasting and see instant results but in the long run, it is most effective. I learned the name of the game is longevity now, so keep going and don’t be afraid to ask questions or to do some research

Yessir- that’s why I’m looking into HGH. I like my health and build and keeping it or slightly improving it with longevity in mind is the name of the game. I just think I ran out of non-enhanced things to do- diet , sleep, lifestyle and lifting are dialed in- so TRT and HGH now it is👍.

I sure wish I had all the bodybuilding stuff started 20 years ago, but hey. Look forward to, never back!😁👍

Never too late to start!!! Sounds like you are in the right path and welcome to the family!

Divide the daily HGH dosage into two equal injections, ideally administered before meals. This approach helps minimize potential side effects, such as fluid retention and edema, caused by HGH’s impact on aldosterone and mineral accumulation. Additionally, splitting the dosage enhances the anabolic effects, maximizing its benefits for muscle growth and recovery.

Thanks for the advice! I was actually pining first thing in the am , fasted- which I thought was the way to go to minimize blood sugar issues and/or insulin resistance- is that not correct? Again, still learning. And thank you!

Splitting the dose actually raises my BP and fluid retention.

Carditone is garbage. Great in 2012 when blood pressure wasn’t a common concern among bodybuilders, but real predictable medication is MUCH better.

Your body won’t likely adjust to the blood pressure, and it’s not likely that just staying hydrated will make a huge impact. The hyper hydration isn’t solving a water issue, it’s solving a salt issue. The more water you drink, the more sodium you’ll excrete. The more sodium you excrete, the less your blood pressure is likely to (but not guaranteed) to be. That’s actually part of the benefit of ARB’s. They have an influence on aldosterone via the kidneys, which has an impact on sodium retention.

Try to get some Nebivolol tabs. 2.5 or 5mg.

The combination of an ARB and nebivolol has reduced my BP and RHR while on GH and anabolics.

Splitting is needed when doses are up

splitting is necessary or rather strongly recommended when doses are higher, above 4. You are not hitting that hard and you are on the right track, you may be one that really responds well. Keep riding it out, monitor and adjust as needed, you will be glad in the long run as the benefits outweigh the struggles with finding your sweet spot in terms of dosing

Splitting the HGH dosage can often help mitigate side effects, including carpal tunnel syndrome and elevated blood pressure, though it’s not a guaranteed solution for everyone. While direct literature on this specific approach is limited, the general consensus supports dividing the daily HGH dosage for better management. For reference, you can explore related research here: PubMed Article

Bro science at its finest

Circing back to this- my doctor upped my dose of Losartan from 25 a day to 50 (I've had slight hypertension from back when I was 100# heavier )- boom, BP now 125/70. Water retention seems to be less after 3 weeks of GH. Progress!

Thank you all for the advice.
