question here: how do you tell the difference between sub-q water and fat.
ive been doing my contest diet and cardio every day for 12 months and it was going smoothly until now i have this layer over all my muscles that will just not go away wtf. i have a digital fat caliper that takes several readings on the body
and gives a %. according to the meter ive went down from 17% to 7.5% but in the mirror i do not look like 7.5. is it possible that i just have really thick skin?:(

Whats your height and weight at this supposed 7%.... 12 month prep :eek: Never could i handle that!
 
oops sorry, i meant to say 12 weeks. im 6'1.5'' tall and my morning weight is
around 264-266 at the moment. i look slightly better in the morning but i guess thats the same with anyone.

Water is a "looser" more flimsy type of feel. It's very thin at the pinch and will indent easy etc....Fat is HARDER and thicker. There is ALWAYS pretty much a slight film of fat + water remaining towards the end of the prep and thats when you need to be meticulous about getting rid of the small amount of fat while holding onto tissue.

Do you have a pic bro? Are you sure about the accuracy of your instrument?
 
7% and your complaining about a "layer" of fat? something sounds off to me. go get a bod pod, they are cheap.

At 7% you should be pretty shredded up by now. bodyfat numbers are often skewed online, so people start to think 6% bodyfat looks like what really 12% is. To give you a idea, if you see someone walking down the street and think to youself, "damn that dude is pretty lean"..most likely he is around 9-10%... this guy you would never classify as having a "layer of fat"... of course this is my opinion as always.
 
well this layer especially around my midsection is not hard at all and if i pinch
the skin it easily pulls away from my muscles. also there is no texture either like
fat. the caliper seems decent of course i havent used many calipers before so not sure on that.i will try to upload a photo today if possible.
