WATERMELON QUESTION

Lets say im trying to keep my carbs low(during the day to cut up a little)-so i usualy workout at around 6:30pm(i also do cardio first thing in the AM on an empty stomach..well i sip some LBA'S and BCAA'S during the session..1-hour at about 130bpm),anyway after the pm workout(weights)-i get 50grams of whey protein shake and 1-banana with 1/2 cup of ezekiel cereal.about 20-30 min. after that i am still hungry(and its about 8:30-9:00 pm.)-i get some cut watermelon(not too many carbs,around 12grams for a cup)-my question is-how many cups would be too many for that time of the night?(asuming that i eat about 100grams of complex carbs during the day,from brown rice).
 
I have heard mixed reviews on Watermelon, but that it is a great natural diuretic and really cleans the system, but a lil high in sugars. Be interested, esp. this time of year, on others opinions as well.

i know,the reason i picked watermelon is because it fills me up(a lot of water),and i can eat 2-3 cups easy(only 35grams,although most is sugar...).

This time of year I pass stands with them all the time and have to think twice about pulling over and buying one. Just a small amount carries 12 carbs and yes, mostly sugar, but they are loaded with antioxidents and actually have 1gram of protein and some of the chemical compostion is simular to olive oil (have no idea why) so that makes it ok, right?:p

I love watermelon and my rule of thumb is just dont eat too much,,just like anything. Natures candy!!! I recently tried the yellow watermelon variety and it was delicious!

I haven't heard or seen that...
But, is is true what they say ..there all pink on the inside ? ;)
 
Watermelon is the most abundant natural source of citrulline... which as you probably know has many health benefits. Loaded in potassium too, hence the diuretic effect hottt was speaking of.

As for carbs, they're slow burning ones and mainly fructose. So no insulin spike, which makes it a perfect choice at night... as long as you're not eating 2 or 3 pieces at a time. ;) Would be hard anyway, considering the weight of those babies... :p
 
watermelon, cantaloupe and grapes have a surprisingly LOW amount of carbs per cup.
about eating them at night, i don't think it matters. only the amount matters. what and how much you eat during the day shouldn't be any different/worse than what you eat at night IF your metabolism is churning.
i have been very lean and i ate watermelon amongst other fruits any time i was hungry, NIGHT time included. -STEELE

exactly, eat healthy and enjoy yourself. a cup of watermelon will not change your physique.
