Just for arguments sake whats the best carb source to add to your post workout shake?

I've heard some say that all the hype about WMS getting into your system and causing a slin spike is false but others swear by it?

Just thinking things over for when i start my off season training and eating
 
waxy madness !!!

I just gotta chime in here and say that after lookin into waxy it seemed at first that the concensus was it was amazing........then I look further and find a study that flushed all the hype down the shitter....i would also love to hear the final word once and for all .....waxy maize yay or nay ?????? vitargo seems to be a solid product though.......??????
 
ill bump this. i agree with the above poster, i came back from a break on the boards and heard waxy was the best thing ever, then read that it was bunk and that its not the same as vitargo (sp??). im guessing vitargo is the best but i hear its super expensive and im not rich so im not even going to bother.

right now im just being safe and sticking with malto, but am interested in hearing the argument that waxy may be better there are some respected guys out there that still say use waxy.

i have also heards swedish oat starch or potato starch mentioned too, havent looked into them though....

actually vitargo is more of a pre supp for endurance sports ......i.e.- running , biking.............i see most prefer dextrose over malto or a 50/50 mix post workout.......then again some say no carbs on workout days........fuck, now all I want is a valium......too much conflicting info..........!
 
Oats turned into dust in a food processor,as it goes down easily & doesnt leave me feeling full too long,its dirt cheap & easy .And most important,it works.Waxy maize bloats me & restricts my post workout eating,though it does reload me.Dextrose = bad cramps & all the associated gastric issue's that follow further down the pipe.
 
25g whey iso + 25g egg white pro

that is my preworkout and postworkout shake. Eat a real meal (PRO/CARB) 1-2 hours before and eat a meal 1-2 hours after.

I wouldn't say vitargo is more a pre supp. I know where your coming from. But I think it is an ideal post workout carb source.

My favs are vitargo, waxy and malto (in that order).

Another I sometimes use is manuka honey

I just use a blend of oatbran and oatgerm (already a fine powder).
 
WaxyMaize is typically all I recommend with PWO shakes. I have a client right now with Diabetes who has tried Waxy Vs. Dextrose and it seems to be working better with his BS. Malto would be my 2nd choice.

ive tried them all, considering cost vs results....its dextrose and oats for me
 
^ Im finding thatas long as you get in some carbs during the week at some point it really doesnt matter when you take them. I think a lot of the postworkout stuff is some weird marketing hype. Just eat a few pro/carb meals (whole foods) scattered with your pro/fat meals here and there and its fine.

Around workout time all I crave is PROTEIN.

I agree... Ever since dropping malto/waxy/dex out of my diet (for the last cpl years) my physique is better for it. I'd much rather eat than drink a meal anyway and dont really concern myself w/ pre or post hoopla. That said I do use bcaa's or lba's before and after and beef liver powder.

where do you get your beef liver powder? Is it good mixability?
 
Vitargo is an excellent product, but the stuff is expensive, there is another product that I have been using called Karbolyn by Professional Supplements, the stuff is really good, no bloating whatsoever, real smooth. God bless you guys.

That's funny. BCAA's and Desiccated Liver are two supplements that I really believe in. The other one is EAA's or natural whole cage free eggs. The rest of the stuff everyone is raving about I've yet to see any compelling evidence of substantial results.

And the funniest part is, all this was figured out way back the 50's and nothing has really changed since then. They worked then. And they work now.

Thats very intersting , I was planning to get a little of each and do some testing with a glucose meter after training
 
Out of the three in question, I like dextrose the best still. Either that or MILK:)
