Weight vs BMI vs Inches Contest

On Monday at work we are kicking off our own version of The Biggest Looser contest. We have about 8 women and one guy, ME! :D I'm doing it as a motivational thing, not so much a weight loss thing.

I have a problem trying to figure out the ground rules here, and how to determin the winner? The problem we have is that some women are very over weight and some are just out of shape. When dieting and exercising it's almost a given that the larger women will loose most of the weight quicker.

So if you were trying to set the rules for the contest and how to determine the winner, how would you go about setting the rules so the playing field is even for all. Would you determine the winner by weight lost? BMI? Inches lost? How can we make it fare for everyone? Everyone is getting on the scale monday morning.

Example: one woman is about 300pounds (roughly) while another woman 170 pounds and not really out of shape. But could afford to loose like 10 pounds. (as per her)

Your thoughts and ideas are welcomed.
 
How about weight lost as a percentage of the original weight?

300lb woman loses 30lb = 10% of bodyweight lost

200lb woman loses 25lb = 12.5% of bodyweight lost

200lb woman is the winner even though she lost less weight.

I think BMI is flawed and inches lost might not be the best indicator of overall weightloss.

Its only an idea though mate :)
 
I think BodyFat not BMI would be best to go by but finding an accurate and consistent form of testing may be a challenge. Perhaps the military tape system, at least consistent...

As to BMI or over all weight the problem is who cares if somone lost 20 lbs more then you if those 20 lbs came from water or muscle.

agree with the percent. Total weight lost benefits the obese along with inches lost and in all reality bmi sucks. so id go with percent. it is going to be the best chance for all in my opinion.
