Weird dosing protocol for scripted test..

I just go a prescription today for testosterone cypionate. The doctor has me taking 400mg every 3 weeks. Why the hell would they do that? It seems like my test levels will be like a yo-yo, all over the place. I think I'm just going to take 200mg every 1.5 weeks instead. Anybody had their doctor try to put them on a weird dosing schedule like this?

Yes. My friend sees a female regular Dr, not an endo, who wants him to take it once a month. She doesn't care about the yo yo. She was prescribing him too much (he was getting refills he shouldn't have), so know she makes him go in once a month and do the shot there. I told him, "why do you even bother?" especially since he does it on the side. My endo was cool with weekly or bi weekly, but I still had to see him once a month. These Dr's are stupid. That's why I don't deal w/ them anymore. I had a cool one years ago who would give 6 month refills w/ bloodwork only annually, but he moved. The go with what's in the outdated medical books. I thought those said every 2 weeks though, nor 3.

Dosing every 3-4 weeks is very old school methodology. Dosing every 2 weeks is more recent but still outdated. Dosing at least every week is the currently accepted standard. People trying to keep aromatization to an absolute minimum are dosing 2x/week or more, but I've never heard a doctor recommend that frequent.

That is what my Dr. originally prescribed, its since been changed to 200mg/ every other week.

My doc has me doing 100mg 2 times a week, not much of a yoyo effect as 200mg once a week.

Well, if youre like me and do your shots at home then youll just take 1/3 of that dose each week, once a week. Really just 100 mg/wk should be good, as that is what I use and it puts me in the mid 600s total test and I feel ok on that. Dosing once every 3 weeks is crazy. I tried it once every two weeks and I felt like crap toward the middle of that 2nd week so if you try and go 3 weeks its really gonna suck. It is test cyp, right?
I would think your doc would change your script for the syringes so that you can get one a week. The amount of test wont change so that should be no issue. IN fact you can probably take less overall now and feel better. If the doc wont write another script for more pins then I would just buy some on your own and do your own dose schedule.

Most dr's are so ignorant on this stuff. Mine wanted me to do 100mg every 4 weeks. They are clueless, most anyway. I found that urologists seem to have a better understanding. Took a while to convince my dr i needed 200mg a week, but the labs proved it to him eventually. It was not a fun 2 months working with him in the beginning.

Damn, 100 mg/4 weeks!!?? Thats not far off from what a woman would have in her blood stream!
