Potassium is rarely focused on and often overlooked while there is an over-abundance of importance placed on unnecessary dosing of sodium.
I agree and disagree. While i do agree more people need to probably focus on things like potassium and likely even magnesium and calcium, I find for bodybuilders that are truly dialed in it can be a bit different circumstances.
Our diets in general are built up of whole foods and lacking additional sodium from the prepackaged and takeout food general population is eating. On top of this, what we ARE going to be losing in our sweat as well as urine (and we all know bodybuilders are peeing quite a lot with our higher fluid intake) is going to be made up of mostly sodium.
So I can see a point being made from both angles tbh, but generally from a “replenish what was lost” standpoint I do see why an emphasis is placed on sodium especially for products targeted at athletes like Gatorade or Powerade. Nine times out of ten, I find if I’m cramping or feeling flat/dehydrated salt WILL fix the problem for me, but everyone’s different.
I think taurine is also just an awesome addition in general to all electrolyte blends as it helps regulate them in the body.
Something else to consider too with bodybuilders specifically is everyone’s unique reaction to how different compounds effects their aldosterone and mineralocorticoid receptors. Some dudes will take trt and look at a bottle of gh and turn into a water Buffalo lol, while others like myself find they still have to supplement with a good amount of sodium. Probably lots of other external factors that come into this too like your how much you sweat in general, fluid intake, body fat, how much sodium you personally lose in said sweat… that’s why it’s so hard to even give a general recommendation when people ask for specifics on electrolyte intake.
BALANCED Potassium and Sodium (410/300)
I agree here too, I do think that’s a solid ratio. Another option is iirc just the good old xtend bcaas with electrolytes (if we are strictly look at K and Na). I’m going off memory here so don’t quote me

but I think it’s 240/180 sodium/potassium respectively.
I wrote too much lol, but I do see where you’re coming from but can also see the other side bro.
