What caused the improvement in HDL?

So for about the last 8 weeks, I was working with shelby, and I was on "cutting" diet. My carbs were on the lower side and obviously was hypocaloric.

I had my lipids checked 7 weeks in just to make sure where everything was because i was on Adex 1mg EOD, (only on 500 test) and to my surprise it was at 45.

45 is not great, but for being on 1mg ADEX EOD, and 500 mg test I was worried it was gonna be in the low 30's or high 20s.


Do you think the reason for my HDL being where it was was because
a) low carbs?
b) regular cardio (but I was just doing light cardio)
c) or just being hypocaloric in general?
 
cardio improoves HDL...

are you taking omega 3? it can improove HDL too...

in fact, you need to fear more the high LDL than low HDL, it's LDL who deposites the fats in the arteries
 
Most likely the cardio as stated above. Dieting may help also.

HDL is mostly meaningless by itself, it's the ratio of HDL to LDL that is important.

What was your HDL before?

FYI, refined carbs have a HUGE impact on raising LDL...
 
LDL was 81.

My HDL before was 39-42 and that was taking Niacin and on HRT and Adex 1 mg twice a week.

When I started the cycle of 500 TEst and Adex EOD, I was afraid of crushing my lipids.


Fats were usually almond or peanut butter, and than some fish oil everyday.

Does carbs have an impact on HDL??
