Ok. This is going to sound strange but it is totally true. I squat 200lbs + the bar. I'm not a bodybuilder so this is a lot. It's also more than most people in my La fitness.

However, I recently tried to go down far enough where my quads are parallel and a little below parallel. I really tried hard but when I got just below parallel, I just could not push the weight up. In order to get a set of 12 squats that go just below parallel, I could only do 50lbs + bar. My 200lb + squat goes about 45 degrees or like a starting position on a deadlift.

So for the purposes of building muscle...do I stick with the 50lb squat and go up from there or the 200lb squat and go up from there?

Sounds like you haven't been working through a full range of motion. I would start lighter and work your way up from there.

OutToLunch nailed it bro. Gotta have your form right before you can start killing the weight and not killing yourself!!!!

I see in another thread that you are planning to run your first cycle.

STOP! Train up and build a base, you will hold more mass and have less injuries.

lets make it more serious then

how far should you actually go down? I often go down and like sit at the button for 2 seconds where I can feel my calves touching my hams.. Im thinking bad for my knees but feeling awesome

95lb squat, jesus ,well ok with that 200lbs, you must of bent your knees what about an inch lol, thats doing nothing for quads, start with the weight where you can get your ass past your hips, then your working quads

Pick one of the hundreds of articles explaining why it is beneficial to squat to parallel and read it.

Is this post serious?

I don't want to imagine how bad ROM you lift with your 200 lbs squats if little beyond paralel you only lift 50
