What do you guys think is the most “humbling” machine or movement in the gym?

GHR. Even when i was doing deadlifts in the 500lb range the GHR owned me. Like proper reps, all the way down and all the way upright, not using it for back extensions

At 54, squats.
The legs are fine, backs good but my shoulders are fucked!
Trying to hold a loaded bar (high or low) is pure pain.

first time i used the pendulum squat machine i nearly didnt come back up on first warm up rep

i discretely removed some weight and started again

It's a real shame a lot of Jim's do not have these, Hip extension machines.

By far the most humbling move in my gym is watching Emily.

Emily is an inspiration.

Emily is a 45 year old young lady who comes to the gym 3-4Xs/wk using a walker. Emily has multiple sclerosis. She had it since she was young and she choses not to let it run her life. Her positive mental attitude encourages everyone she talks to. I wanna be like her when I grow up.

👍 best post yet.

Pendulum squats or high rep Bulgarian split squats

I didn’t want to be the first to say split squats …..so thank you

go ahead and do a meadows drop set of death and report back. I’ve been close to full on actual tears if taken to hell, like the set should be.

Tears like from my eyes…. not my legs ….although, probably close to that also lol

Strength to bodyweight ratio.

That is what impresses me.
I like this one a lot. Right before I got super bad tendinitis in both elbows I had a goal of 10 reps neutral grip chins with 90lbs. I got almost 7 the last time I tried. We also have a plate loaded arsenal pull down machine which I don’t really like something about it but it is ridiculously heavy to move. I think the leverage ratio/profile is bad on it because regardless of the weight used it just never feels super good to me.

👍 I guess the reason I mentioned them is that I am fairly good at those exercises 😉, a poorly disguised slap on my own back.

My best parallel grip behind the neck chins was 110lb x 10, 135lb dips x 10, handstand press-ups x 8, all at ~ 160lbs a long long long time ago.

That is about the only thing in a gym I can brag about.

A sneaky one may be l-sit core exercise, even hanging.

Dips.... my left arm shakes like it's on meth

200lb. Dumbbells lol will make you pretty humble.
