This is not a thread about why you get sore, the meaning or the
significance of muscular soreness. We can do that in another thread.

Planning on shocking the leg muscles tonight with a 100 rep leg extension routine . . .

. . . . its too much. you will likely get VERY sore . . . -JS

The two posts above got me to thinking about an exercise that has never
made me sore, and wondering if it was just me or the exercise.

So . . I would like this thread to be about what exercises do not make
you sore, regardless of how or when you do them.

I'll start with myself. My years of experience in the gym, experimenting
with a wide variety of exercises, changing the order, the repetitions, style,
etc., tells me that leg extensions do not make me sore, regardless of how
or when I do them. And to prove this to myself (and I have done this many
times with various exercises, and it must be done this way in my opinion
or the results will be misleading) I abstained for all exercise for a minimum
of two weeks, and when I returned to the gym, I just did leg extensions.
Fatigued, weak and tired, yes. Sore, no.

I tried them with heavy weights, light weights, high reps, low reps, negative
accentuated, literally everything I could think of because I refused to believe
it could not make me sore. And they never did.

Any other exercise will induce "soreness" in the muscle I am exercising
except for this one particular exercise; leg extensions. I find that very
interesting and I do not have an explanation for it.

Anybody else here know of an exercise that does not make your muscle sore?
Please do tell.

Curls and calve raises VERY rarely make me sore.. Generally anything to do with the back im always sore.. (pulls ups, rows etc)

I almost never get sore side delts from dumbbell lateral raises. Once every 15-20x I do them I'd say.

Sometimes I have a difficult time with the printed word,
communicating my thoughts in a manner that is under-
standable to anybody other than myself. And perhaps
my original post is a case in point.

Please let me blabber on here for a bit more . . .

I am rarely sore as a function of my "normal" exercise
routine unless I make drastic changes to it; add a new
exercise, or do negatives or forced reps for example.
Usually I just feel a bit of tightness or fatigue, but rarely
sore once I have "broken in" a new routine.

And I can easy pick any other exercise (except leg
extensions) and do it in a fashion that will make me
brutally sore; sore to the touch, so sore that I think
it needs medical attention, something is wrong, I'm
injured, the soreness is so severe.

What I am looking for is a particular exercise that has
failed or will fail to induce muscular soreness. It's not
an easy question to answer I know partly becasue the
interrelationship between muscle groups, fiber types(?),
and whole host of things we don't need to go into.

Perhaps I'm a bit unusual here as I have always tried to
approach exercise from a cause and effect point of view,
and being the lazy person I am, tried to get the most from
the least so I have tried to pay close attention to what
exercises I do and what effect they may have on me.
And if need be, I'll try some things in isolation, or not do
certain things to prove, if only to myself, that I know what
is causing what. Am not saying I always arrive at a
definitive answer, but I have fun trying . . .

Well to be honest The only exercises that dont seem to induce any soreness no matter what i do are forearm exercises. I have a feeling that may be from playing drums for 25 years though.

I gotta agree with DB side laterals. I have done those with like 50s with rest pause sets and gone up and down the rack, nothing seems to phase 'em

I dont get sore from any upper body training anymore.

Yo, what kind of style did you play? Do you feel as if playing drums built up any muscle?

I grew up playing very fast hardcore/punk, and the drummers of my bands were always (how we referred to it back then) "cut". Chest, shoulders, arms, forearms, low bf.

Sorry to hijack y'all. Laterals never got me sore.

mine have to be shoulders.

i have had a couple shoulder surgeries and cannot do BB heavy presses (i do hammer strength but still go relatively heavy) but even when i blast my shoulders with front and lateral raises...i NEVER get sore. its weird.

i never got sore from chinups or rack chins. but im not strong enough to do them weighted, i have always been aweful at any varation of chin so maybe it has to do with not enough weight. on the other hand hammer pull down machines get my lats very sore. shrugs never made me sore either, even with heavy weight.

I played anything and everything. i just loved to play. I studied with Carl mattola and Joe Morello. Grew up on Jazz but got into just about everything.

My shoulders and biceps rarely get sore and they are two of my most developed bodyparts. My quads get sore all the time and they grow well too. I can't really pinpoint an exercise since I rarely do one exercise that day for a particular bodypart.....without fail squats, deads, and lunges make me sore everytime.

the only exercises i don't get sore from are the ones i don't do that day..lol

I dont EVER get sore. If I REALLY push it I might get tight just a bit but sore is looooong gone

I know it´s not the question but the stuff that makes me hyersore is evrything that deply stretches the muscle: PJR pullovers, rack chins, dips, flys, deep squats, sldl... other things make me sore but if I´m feeling a deep stretch in every rep I know I will be in sevre pain the next day

Anything calves - I don't get sore. Only if I hurt myself ;)

curls i can lift heavy and hard, no pain or soreness. :(
