What have you learned in the last year?

That 30 year of training have beat my joints to a pulp. I was able to hang in there till I was about 43. Now 8 months post shoulder replacement the respectable weights for pressing is gone. At 48 my clean diet must include a carb reduction cause the metabolism is slowing down.

You can’t hold back the hands of time. Adjust your expectations; your exercises, your volume, your intensity, your food plan and your lifestyle. Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up but no your limitations. It’s harder to regain ground than to maintain it. Be mindful of your aches and pains as they will sure as hell come back to haunt you.
Couldn’t have said better. 👍🏽

That if you have always done high volume, and your progress is stalling, low volume will likely be a godsend for you.

I can also imagine that the inverse is true, if you’ve always done low volume and are stalling, high volume may be a great option for a while.

I mean I knew this in theory and I was able to help others cycle their training volume like this, but I was incapable of reallt internalizing this for my own training.

I dug such a fatigue hole that it affected my mood and sleep to a tremendous degree, I also made poor progress this last growth phase. Live and learn.

How much did you reduce volume by?

Everyone realized this in this last year?

I was not invited to the party

How much did you reduce volume by?

Between 12-24 sets per muscle weekly with 1-2 rest days a week 2x frequency with bigger muscles and 2-4x for smaller muscles

Am just getting into switching to 6-12 per muscke group with 1x frequency

The idea isn’t that low volume is better, it’s thay I’m not making progress due to lack of recovery, so I’m going to cycle between moderate/high and low volume.

I’d like to point out I was never really very sore, but I was extremely overtrained from a CNS perspective, so it can be misleading if you use muscle soreness as a proxy.

I was having basically every symptom of clinical CNS fatigue

All in all... I learned again that the more I know, the less I know.

Do not judge anything even if this sounds dumb as f… unless you try it. This for me was sugar diet. I was THE leanest ever on this protocol eating hundreds grams of carbs a day with occasional sweets made from sugar.

I think the last year has brought out a lot of these new influencer types, and it will only get worse. What I learned is:

find what works for your body and stop listening to all these influencers and want-to-be fitness gurus on social media whose opinion changes like the wind on what the newest fad supplement, cycle, or training split is

Bodybuilding isn’t a one size fits all sport. What works for some people doesn’t work for others, and visa versa. This is applicable to training and gear mainly, but also applicable in some instances to diet as well. As you progress and Find what works for your body, everything should become more intuitive.

Some people respond well to high volume, some respond well to low volume. Some like high frequency, some like low frequency. Some people may respond well to deca, tren, eq, high test, etc (not necessarily all together at once), others may have terrible sides to those compounds or dosages.

People have built impressive physiques with every kind of all programming you can think of. Response rates are very individualized. Bodybuilding is more of a time and consistency game. Sure there’s plenty of ways to optimize and constantly improve your programming but there really isn’t any magic secret

Brother you stay lean 365, a true lean, not "well I can see my abs." That is more impressive in my mind than any amount of size or strength, no one can judge you your discipline is at the 99th percentile lol

I've learned that 50's kind of sucks. Torn bicep, torn shoulder, gall bladder removed, skin cancer, and midsection getting bigger and body fat increasing even though I watch what I eat and have always been lean. And I'm not gaining weight, just bigger midsection and abs almost gone.

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives"
- Macdonald Carey, voiced the opening narration of soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Iv learned that drinking alcohol combined with test and deca makes me fuck my ex tell her I love her and then have to figure out how to get rid of her again when I'm sober 😮‍💨..sad times gentlemen 🤣💀
Hahahaha been there.

With all due respect, and as an alcoholic in recovery for 9 years or so- alcohol and it’sw consequences, man… there’s just nothing positive about alcohol, like at all. Other than possibly in moderation as a social lubricant, and even then… yeesh.

But to each their own.

Alcohol is an absolute demon. It is so destructive, and I have seen it rip apart so many lives, so many families. I have never heard anyone I know say alcohol benefited their life. Anyone that might say that are usually just using it to masking physical and or mental pain or depression. I hate booze, but I will admit, I have had my stretches

Doing PEDs simply for a contest and then coming completely off them in addition to completely stopping the lifestyle for the rest of the year has been incredibly stupid and a pointless risk that I should be ashamed of taking 4 times.

I figured out MY nutrition system because of working with Kolton Lukes (i wish i gave better check in feed back and also a better head space) and Joe Gann (this man is the goat)

Whole eggs, non fat greek yogurt, chicken, 93/7 ground beef, nuts, almond butter, rice, potatoes, mango, pineapple - I can eat any of these combinations 4 out of 5 meals a day 6 out of 7 days a week.

After consuming BBing content since mid 2019, besides being dedicated and actually executing, its a simple sport for us non Olympians. Test high as you can, + 2nd anabolic that doesn't impact you too negatively + gh + dont eat like an ass +simply just time lmao. (shoutout Andrew Berry, Kyle Wilkes, Justin Harris)

Crazy how thc has had a stigma and has been illegal but drinking poison in a bottle is socially acceptable and people look at you funny if you say you don't drink. Especially people who workout, eat right, then negate everything they do by drinking.
