what is th elongest you have been in ketosis with out a high day?

Just wondering because I always have a high day once a week at least but a buddy of mine just competed and told me he ran his low days for months. Feedback from the fellas that compete,thanks
 
I'm not a fella, and i don't compete, but when i was doing a CKD, I'd carb up every 10 days, as needed. My carb up would last about 12 hours.

But i can't imagine anyone competing and having low days that last months ...
 
I don't compete either, but at 2 weeks I hit the wall and need some carbs so I can remember my name :D

i have done about 11 days, but I find that the carb up has to be really carefull or I just crave carbs like crazy, i will not go more than 5 days without some carbs now, then i do not get the urge to eat a tub of icecream with cocolate in....:p

i have heard over on another site that a guy was in ketosis for over 80 days straight. I think if you use MCT you could maybe go a little longer than usual, but i am not a big fan of that personally.
 
Probably a couple weeks, but I lose too much muscle that way so now I carb up every 4 days and use some enhancement to avoid muscle loss.
 
5 weeks without a single gram of carbs... but very high fats along with a reasonable amount of kcals.

Was feeling pretty good and bf melt off quickly.

But once your glycogen stores are totally exhausted you not only start feeling kinda "flat" (even if your fats are high) but also burn muscles, no matter what...

That's why I wouldn't do it again that long... now it's 6 days max on keto then one or even two high clean carb day(s), depending on how I look.

The leaner you are/get, the fewer straight days on keto you need IMO.

But Ketosis is really an awesowe way to diet if you know what you're doing and closely monitoring your body's reactions :)

i really think after 5-6 days you need to put some carbs back in your body....

Ditto on that - fantastic cleansing and lost muscle comes right back.

I knew a guy years ago who was in ketosis for months approaching a year. I remember him describing his muscles as almost being without tone they were so flat. He had ripped abs, but if he let them relax, in certain positions (sitting down) the rectus abdominus would almost roll over his pants, simply b/c the muscle was so flaccid...

Sounds like a little too long to me... LOL

geez.
after 10 days, i can barely lift my arms. let alone train properly.
My strength goes down the shitter ... not that i'm the Hulk on a good day ;)
 
Did just over 7 weeks once, 220 gms or so of protein a day, 40 or so gms of fat, carbs as close to zero as possible, so always less than 20. I had 8 weeks to lose about 35 lbs for a show.

It was STUPID, but I did it and made my weight class. Never again!
 
Four weeks and collapsed in a heap after a 200m sprint. Couldn't even push in the clutch of my car. Less than 5 minutes after a 32oz gatorade I was almost totally back to normal...


...except that I was STARVING!!!

A true keto diet is 60-90% fats the rest coming from protein. Meaning you must eat much more fats than pro in order for it to be effective.

but still. its nothing like having carbs!
not to mention the depletion. gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah ...

but it is fun. to see how long you can go for ;)

The CKD diet I usually use is the 10 day Ultimate Diet by Dan DuCheine and Michael Zumpano. This bit of insanity was just staying in large ketosis for 7 weeks. (This was 20 years ago, so hopefully, I've learned a bit since then, LOL!)

I've played with high fat levels like yuo describe, but have trouble depleting into anything much more than small ketosis that way. If yuo read DuCheine's Body Opus, he talks about some people having difficulty losing fbodyfat if their dietary fat intake is too high, and that seemed to be the case for me whenever I went to high on fats while eating very low carbs.

Longest was about three months

Sort of cheating was in ketosis for about three months with two bad days back to back, don't really remember exactly where those days fell as it was over ten years ago. I dropped at that time from 278 to around 222-225 in order to compete in another sport.

I was doing the program from the book "Body Opus" prior to that where you carbed up after five days, definately much easier to live with and prolly less muscle waste.
