What is this pain??

Since summer of 2002 I have been having a wierd pain under my right rib cage...at first it was mild to where it only hurt if I tapped lightly on it but it didnt hurt if I pressed on the area...It has gradually gotten worse, and about a year ago I went to the doctor and got an ultrasound, done. It showed absolutely nothing...Now a year later the pain is still worse..when I sneeze it hurts really bad..And now I can simply press on the area of pain and it hurts...kinda feels like something may be swollen in there, not sure though...sometimes it throbs or will just shoot a sudden pain down my right side...I was thinking maybe it was a gall bladder thing...?? Anyone have any ideas...This pain has been here long before I ever started any gear so it doesnt associate with that...Idea's??

My guess

Either gas pains or your liver might be swollen. Just a quick guess, but go to the doc again please.

I dont know, I guess its a possibility....rather it be that a swollen live...

I would think that an ultrasound would bring up something...I guess Ill just try and get another one...

This is why I think it might be gall bladder, cuz it says right sid eof the body under rib cage...I dont have Jaundice though I dont think..

Gall bladder Disease Symptoms

pain in the right side of the body, just under the ribcage
fever if there is secondary infection by bacteria
jaundice - as the gall bladder is clogged up, the bile stored cannot escape and gets 'dammed up' and the yellow tinge of jaundice occurs
peritonitis could result if the gall bladder bursts or leaks infected pus into the surrounding area. This is a serious life threatening condition.

And you've had these symptoms since 2002? I'm not thinking it's the gall blader.

I looked up swollen liver and nothing really came up and most of the symptoms of liver issues it did list didnt pertain to me..So I am kinda stumped...

Saw something about a enlarged spleen as being a pain under your right ribs...?

I'm gonna have to go with Phil on this one and also recommend a visit to the doc. Could be serious and it could not, but you don't want to find out the hard way.

My training partner is almost a doctor and he thinks that it is either a rib or abdominal tear....

I am gonna try the Doc again even though they found nothing at all last time with x ray and ultra sound...

I had the same exact pain during my last 2 cycles except under my left rib. It would be a sharp pain and sometimes felt like it was buzzing almost - bad way to describe i know but best I can do - . Anyway I've been off for 2 months now and haven't had that pain once. Swollen liver is a scary thought but makes sense...makes me wanna go even now to check it out
