Most people like to keep there movements on there lifts at 80%... Just curious on what is your range of motion(range) and do you have any videos.

i think the percent is weight based

NOT, range of motion

percentage of range of motion will vary widely from person to person

its a percent of max weight

hope this helps

:)

No, I mean the 80% range of your lift; the motion not weight. You do not go all the way down or up.

I am not sure if this counts because I have never thought of it that way.

But when I do certain exercises like bench, preacher curls, military press ect... I dont lock out at the end of the contraction, that way there is still pressure on the muscle. Bench press for instance, I touch my chest but only about an inch away from locking out at the top. I dont get as many reps that way because the muscle does not have that split secon to rest between reps.

This is what I am talking about. Wondering if anyone has any videos possible.

well, how about doing a "normal" set that you would do. then next set dont go all the way up or down..seems really simple....or ask your trainer, if you u are working with one to clarify this for you....keeping constant tension i beleive is the goal with the 80% rep range... i do reps this way most of the time...

have you watched jay cutler's video? thats kind of how i do it but mostly for chest and leg extension.

leave out top 10% of range, and botom 10%, A decent concentric, and a negative controled in a manner where if asked to at any point you could stop the weight in its tracks and change direction.

Just watch any Branch Warren training vids on you tube...LOL I would call them 1/4 reps, but it works for him!!

This should vary every lift, as well as goal. If I am with a client and we are focusing on tricep mass I like to start sets doing about 80% and end them doing lock outs to 100%. The lock out on triceps is key for that final squeeze of the muscle.

Utilize all ranges of motions, instead of stripping weight I like to strip range once I hit failure on many exercises. It helps keep your explosion high, and the descending portion of the exercises at a full load.

I agree with this. I have done plenty of drop/strip sets, but I prefer to do partials after failure, from the bottom on presses or stretched position on rows/pulldwns/chins to 1/2 way or a little farther; whatever I can to get to finish off the muscle.
