What is your preferred rep tempo?

I have been playing with my rep tempo recently. Thankfully the information and tips I have read here I have been making great gains in my progress. Ive managed to put on quite a bit of mass in the last 6 months and now am trying to cut up without losing the size I have already put on. I have started doing 8-1-8 tempo reps.
After doing 8-1-8 tempo reps to the point near failure, say on bench, I just start pumping them out but keep the weight under control, but probably a 1-1-1 tempo.
I read somewhere 8-1-8 is great for shredding up. I don't remember where exactly I read it and I have been kinda following it blindly. I would love to hear what you guys have to say and what your experience has led you to.

Thanks,
Ben

I think there is what I like to call a natural rythem or groove. Find that and work to that. It is where your body wants or prefers to be. Now this is the other part. I think it is also about changing things up when you plateau. Do not stay in the same mindset, get out of the groove and move to a different beat. So change is equally important to working within yourself.

I dont really count, but it ends up being about 2-3 on the eccentric and 1 on the concentric(except for calves which i use about 4-5 on the eccentric)

I don't necessarily have a count I use, it varies depending on the movement and what I'm trying to accomplish in a particular training session. The most important thing is that the weight is under strict control the whole time.

lower the rep, slower the tempo for me. example: 6 reps.. 4/1/*
* as fast as you can.
