What makes up the "meat" around your knee?

I have had a couple knee surgeries where they used the same incision line; they cut me from left to right and the scar is about 6 inches long over the front of my knee. My knee is sunken or caved in under and around the scar. I was wondering why the "meat" didn't fill back in and if there is something I can do to get it to come back. I'm over 2 years post op so time isn't the answer.

Is there anything else? My left knee capsule is definitely smaller than my right one. I had my left one operated on 3 times and the right one twice.

Are you hitting your knee caps with a hammer twice a week or something?

I ruptured both my patella tendons at the same time (below the kneecap). 2 months after surgery my loser PT guy re-ruptured my left one. My second surgery was just a scope to clean up scar tissue; so not very invasive.

Fat sounds about right. Take a picture of it and post it up. If its right over top of the patella or below it there really isn't much else there but skin and fat.

Patella tendon

I had an ACL reconstruction using part of the patella tendon for the graft. In the place where they remove portions of my tendon it is sunken in slightly. It's possible you have portions of your tendon that has been removed or repositioned. I'm just guessing but it seems like a possibility.

Bro, do an image search on google for knee. They have some great pictures. I was having trouble with my left knee and was trying to find out what was where. Good luck.
