Just be PASSIONATE about HELPING OTHERS. Help them become BETTER, STRONGER, SMARTER, HAPPIER, WEALTHIER, WARMER. As long as you KNOW that you have given your GREATEST EFFORT(as hard as you work at bodybuilding) then you have SUCCEEDED.

A very close friend of ours died this year of cancer at 27 yrs old , she was probably the closest thing ive ever seen to being an angel , no matter what she smiled and always had somthing good to say about everybody , he smile was so infectious it dident matter how bad you had it you could not help but smile at her

I remember at her service looking around at more than a thousdand people jammed into a little church and standing outside thinking how amazing it was that she had impacted so many lives

I couldent help but wonder "how many people will be at my funeral"

I find it much more rewarding to help people that actually want it.

It can be an act of futility and actually increase the amount of cynicism I have if somebody actually needs help, they DON'T want it, and I try to help anyway.

Sometimes that can be confused with people that just 'don't want to open up'.

I have had some of my most fulfilling moments being able to help people that were actually receptive to my help.

I think your last line says it best and acts as a good gauge for how many people you touched, helped or inspired in life. If I could add one thing it would be to "selflessly" help others. There are many generous and giving people that expect something in return, they're feeding their ego, or they're trying to convince themselves and others that they're a good person. So, I think motives are important.

"Helping Others" is also a model that has been proven to work. In recovery, the whole philosophy is based on one addict helping another. A common phrase is, "You have to give it away, to keep it".

As for my funeral....I'm thinking I need to start living a better life. Right now I'm hearing crickets.
