So whats your favorite gym shoes? I just got the newbalance minimus and perhaps the minimal type thing is not for me as I am not liking it much for squating. I don't like them as much as my otomix ultimate trainers but they dont fit that well unfortunately.

Thinking of either returning the minimus or exchanging it for another size to see if that helps. Or with the hell with it and just get a new otomix shoe, perhaps try the stingrays.

So curious which shoes you guys like to squat, deadlift, calf raise etc in

I love my nike live strong Free Run +3

I have some Vibrams I love but I also have a Puma shoe that have almost no padding that I like as well.

My beautiful asics wreslting shoes. Try a pair of those at the gym you won't look back

Just a pair of Nikes similar to above. Although I will admit due to the mesh I am constantly thinking my feet will break the mesh under the pressure

how are vibrams supposed to fit? Like these nb minimus mt 10 I have there is not toe room. Is that how its supposed to be?

They are a little funny feeling at first. You need to make sure you get proper sizing so make sure you're with a salesman that knows what he/she is talking about.

Do NOT try running in them until you get used to walking in them. The first day I bought them I tried running a 6 mile run... I got about half way through and was limping, all my joints hurt, and I felt like my back was breaking haha. I got back, took them off and my feet were bleeding pretty bad haha

Wow... I am not doing a good job promoting them, am I?

But seriously, once you get used to them they are great. Especially for squatting and deadlifts or just walking around.

I basically have these type of shoes..... My question was how are they supposed to fit?

In my minimus mt trails there is like zero toe room and the the sides of the foot push against the sides of the shoe. It doesn't hurt, but I am used to having shoes that have toe room and not skin tight. I have heard these type of shoes should be tight. So how do they fit on you?

When doing legs I use Otomix shoes, when doing anything else I like Nikes.

Ah, sorry I misunderstood your question.

They are supposed to be tight on your heel and tight on your longest toe. They are supposed to be tight and snug. It's a weird feeling for awhile, kind of like a stiff toe sock haha. I actually got 1 pair that was too big and they caused a LOT of blisters. But even if they are snug you will probably get blisters depending on what you are doing for a little while (running). You can get socks tho that help.

Nice and flat, and not chuck Taylor's. granted converse is a umbrella company under Nike...

Nike SB Stephan Janoski's
Bench/squat/pull/ and the rest of the training.
**broken link removed**

Also Nike training freehaven 3.0 are pretty damn good, but I like the janoskis most.

The new "minimalist" running shoes are great for the gym because they are very supportive but also very lightweight and not too soft. I really like gel in my shoes because it doesn't pack out like other cushioning systems.

Shoxxxx and AF1's!!!!! Lol.... When I use to deadlift, I'd just kick thm off n wear my socks...never really had a problem squatting in them....

On leg day I wear NB Minimus but for every other day I wear my Chuck Taylors.

Any training with legs or calves I use the otomix pro's otherwise I use the stingrays.

Minimus should not be tight in the toe box. You probably got too small of a shoe. You should be able to wiggle all your toes when wearing these.

I have flat and wide feet. Nothing is more comfortable for me than Nike airmax 360's. A good pair of shoes, belt and knee wraps are the most important things for me when I train.

Nike Shox
