whatever happened to?

1. Heavyhitter to avoid pinching put a 45 lb then a 2.5 or a 5 just to seperate plates so you can get a better grip on them so you don't slam your finger
2. Used to have at my old powerlifting gym in the 80's. They called it the Guillotine. Loved that old press. If you slid way under you cd use lots more weight but you recruited your hams,glutes and lower back a bit but if you slid away from the machine you could get a great hit in your front quads even though the weight you cd handle was a lot less.

I started right around you, reading Bob Hoffman. I had one of those in my basement. Now they look very intimating.

Are they more/less/neutral to stressing your back vs the more horizontal presses? Maybe that's the rub? Cuz they are almost all gone.

I dont know the benefits of the overhead vs angled all I know is that it seemed to incorporate more muscle fibers than these angled machines...what I mean by that is whenever I finished the next day my legs were sore as shit...not so much with the angled machine...I am not as learned in bio mechanics as some on here...maybe shelby can chime in on the mechanics of the overhead version vs. The angled version.
