in your opinion? I prefer HIIT (High intentity interval training) because i only have to do 15-20 minutes of cardio :D. Wont burn as much calories in one cardiosession, but during the day my metabolism stays high and burns more calories than a single session of say 30 minutes at a normal heartrate.

It's all related to your daily carb intake and how full/depleted your glycogen stores are.

HIIT is great but not suitable if you're on a very low carb diet and already pretty depleted.

No matter the way you do it, cardio will always remain a pain in the ass anyway... :p :D

why is that?

because with the lack of carb/glycogen your body will use aminos as the main energy source to fuel your HIIT session. Thats the last thing a bodybuilder wants... a protein burning machine.

What if your Fats are very high? Wouldnt the body use it as energy source?

at high intensitys like HIIT your body primary fuel source is glycogen/glucose. So when thats absent it will make glucose from aminos (glucG). Fat is not an efficient source of energy to provide for high intensity exercise. Thats why on a keto its low intensity long duration so your body wont be burning glucose but would be burning fat. I dont know the exact HR where your body no longer uses fat for fuel but Palumbo states its somewhere around 130 BPM.

If you take your essentiel amino acids before running,I would think you would be ok...

Ok well you can do that.

Once you burn off those essential amino's what do you think is going to happen?(on a keto diet)

I'm with MM on this one.

Keto + HIIT = muscle loss

If you're doing HIIT right you're using nothing but carbs which you don't have if you're doing keto right.

Totally agree, I estimate your going to have to take around 25-35 g of AA to do a session of hiit. We all know BCAA's are not cheap either compared to Whey protein.

MM sumed it up perfectly :)
