Anyone ever notice there are two distinct styles of stomachs. The ones that are big but yet not very flabby and hard to the punch (Power Lifters). Then you have the big ol greasy cheeseburger eatin guts that wiggle. What causes the power lifting stomach to be so large yet hard? You know like Randys Gut from Trailer Park Boys..

I think its because they still eat like BB's some what. Lots and lots of clean food which yields mostly lean mass.

Power Lifter stomach

With Most power lifters you can't see the stomach muscles its just Distended and rock solid

They may have as much fat as non-trained people, but powerlifters have also much more muscle under the grease. At least I like to think so... :p

Virtually all the powerlifter I know have very thick, storng abs. Train with a lot of weight, like oh say, 500+ in the squat and dead, and yuor abs are going to get thick and strong like any other muscle.

Yuo don't powerlift, do yuo?

No

I'm not really a power lifter but My stomach always feels Distended. I have too much fat to see my abs but its pretty rock hard. Maybe i have Irritable bowel syndrome or something.

Yuo know, Dante has mentioned this before:
See if yuor stomach is flatter first thing in the morning. Lots of times, especially if yuo're eating every 2-3 hours, pouring in protein drinks and everything, yuo're going to get distended after that second or third meal and kind of stay that way the rest of the day. But first thing in the morning will show yuo a more accurate picture.

I have noticed

I have noticed some mornings I wake up and look in the mirror and say where did the big Distended gut go. I'm always have bad gas or diarrhea.

visceral fat vs. sub-q fat... that's all what it is.
some people store a lot of fat inside their abdominal wall and between organs, others store it outside...

One eats doughnuts and the other eats Metrx Big 100 Bars:D....No seriously, what DAD, Phidias, and Buselmo stated is pretty head on.

Powerlifters have a ton of muscle and weight on them helping them with leverage...if all they did was strip away the outer layers, they would be some big ass ripped dudes!

Trained with a couple SHW olympic lifters a long time ago. They said that a big gut lowers your center of gravity giving you better lifts

the ones that arent flabby (powerlifter stomach) have a great foundation of muscle its sitting on and big old greesy cheesburger gut is just one big ball of flab just hanging out and jiggling.

Ok this is great I've powerlifted for the last 30 years. Here is what's going on. Most powerlifters need to be think in the torso to support the weights they lift. Most work there stomachs like every other muscle, heavy with low reps. This is what gets our stomachs big. Powerlifters also do very heavy sidebends to build the muscle along the sides of the body.(obl) When your squatting heavy weights and deadlifting you need your stomach and low back as strong as possible. Hope this helps, and yes we don't have to be as tight on a diet as bodybuilders, so this will add size to the stomach.
