I'm looking to add niacin into my supplement regime to raise my HDL. However, I've also read that it doesn't actually do anything to reduce cardiovascular risk. Anyone have any recent studies or experience to chime in?
Tricky subject, I've read where it lowers Trig's, raises HDL, but does little for death, stroke, heart attacks, etc.
Unfortunately, I've read that a lot about Rx statins as well. (For the majority without severe Familia lipid issues).
Despite the hope or whatever there has never been a study that showed raising HDL reduced CAD or MI risk. It was a theory that has not panned out like people thought it would
