dieiting/contest prepping and drinking diet pop or soda. Chris Aceto I believe said it was ok, cause it was calorie free, why not. I drink the shit out of sweetened drinx that r calorie free, there are myths/rumors, and fears of water retention and diet pop/soda. What are your guys thoughts on this?

I drink it

Have not noticed a problem, however I cut way back the last few weeks and none monday - showtime. Don't know that it matters. I'd be interested in hearing other opinions.

i remeber reading that cutler said he drank like a 30 pak of diet coke a week. melvin anthony said on bfto 2003 that drinking diet soda/crystal light is bad when u are on such low carbs..... so who knows.
 
Well - it probably doesn'r affect everyone the same. Seems like I read where it really doesn't do you any good (possibly bloating). I just know a hell of lot fat people that only drink "diet" and it doesn't help them any :eek: :p :rolleyes: :)

Esp for precontest, I'd stick to good ol' water.
 
Also in Jay Cutler's latest video, he says he goes through about 3 gallons of sugar-free tang a day.
 
your right, chris aceto says its ok..Dr. Joe says the sweetners cause the body to stop producing glucagon and start producing insulin.....he told me to curb my intake, i didnt listen and wound up just fine for contest day (well in my opinion)...i know many others that use them all the way until just about the last week....however there are some that get stuck on fat loss, and ditch the aspartame and start losing again...i think xcel is right, its very individual, if your losing fat, then i say keep your sanity and your sweetener

blammo... or go with a non carbonated diet drink.
