When do you do heavy deads?

I seem to see a lot of inconsistency regarding what bodyparts people work on the days they do deads, just wanted to get some opinions. I do realize deads work an incredible amount of the body.

With back OR hamstrings.

You can do them with legs on a squat day per say or on a back day or really whenever you want as long as you are recovering from them and its not compromising anything else in your routine

Never.

Caused too many lower back issues for me to continue doing them.

True dat, as an ex PL I also had to quit them. The old L4 L5 S1 are just gone now :(
They're the best thing in the world though if and when you can do them

When I do them, they are my entire workout :p

Deadlifting is a religious experience for strength guys.

Heavy deads?

Never!!

Its all about form>heavy weight and rackpulls for this guy!!

I like to dead on back day. I go through spurts depending on how my low back is feeling. Gonna try to keep them lighter and see if i can't keep them in longer this time. They are so go for your whole back.

Im just starting to do them on saturdays which I have set aside as my wildcard/weak pint day.

I train quads on friday

saturday I do deads, incline chest, upright rows

sunday off

back at it monday with back (no deads)

Never.
30 years of heavy deads finally tore me up to the point 225 cripples me.:(

on a side note I'v been trying to get away from super heavy sets of 1-4 and focus more on 8-12 but my ego wont let me fully commit!

I do them with back.

I never go too heavy anymore. I used to go for 1-2 rep maxes when I was in my early twenties, and it hurt back then. I have always had lower back issues though.

I have a dedicated DL day, and I only do them once every couple weeks. Nothing depletes me like deads, I have actually made myself bedridden for two days from an intense DL session, completely fried my back and couldn't walk easily at all.

I use a trap bar, takes so much stress off the lower back. I shoot for 8-12 reps, I think I grow better that way and it is better for my joints and back.

Every Thursday. They have their own day. I always do 15 rep's. Usually I do 4 sets of 405 for 15 rep's. Sometimes, I'll go up to 455lbs for 15 for a set or two if I'm feeling good. 15 rep's has helped me grow better than 4-8 rep's. I had to start with 315 for 15 at first. Eventually, I got 405 for 15 one day and realized it was doable. Next I'm eyeing 495 for 15 but I haven't got 15 yet, only 12. Wrist wraps have to be crack head tight or it will want to slip before 15. Also, you'll be huffing and puffing after each set about a minute after stopping. I have to rest 10 minutes between sets. I've got those thick back straps from doing them (not wide, but deep). My partners can't do them because they have sciatica problems from powerlifting (one rep max). 15 is a great rep number for a lot of my lifts. I don't do one rep anything. It opens me up to injury.

I never pull from the floor. I do rack pulls on back day though.

I like to do them with back a couple days after training legs.that way hams get stretched and smoked again.

When I used to do them I would only do them every other week because the movement hits the body so similar to squats and my lower back would get overtrained. Did them on back day.

For the last 4 years I have only been doing stiff leg deads on leg day, every other workout.
