In the morning fasted? In the evening before bed? Right after your training session?

Do you believe there is an optimal in terms of not hindering muscle gain in a surplus or recomping abilities in slight deficit?

I do it when it is most convenient for me. That way i am more likely to do it.
Trying to be high tech for optimal results can be harder to do long term as in years/decades. And makes it easier for me to skip it.
Most studies i have seen point to it doesn't matter much. But some seem to feel different times can have more optimal results. And if that works for them then that is probably what they should do. I have noticed no real difference between times.

Morning fasted 45 min daily. Fits my schedule best.

All day long.

5k steps first thing in am fasted, usually get up to 8k at work, then the rest after training in evening if I'm not at 10k yet.

On 2 off days from training I hit the elliptical 30 minutes get heart rate over 120

Morning fasted. Awesome dopamine reset too, fwiw. In addition to the general benefits of cardio. Zone 2 20-30 minutes depending on current phase/ goals

Lunch time after 1-2 meals and then lift at night. Sometimes early AM fasted or non.

I lift early morning and do my cardio right after lifting. If I don’t get it in while I’m motivated, it’s too easy to skip it. This is especially true in the winter when the days are short. When the weather breaks though I like going outdoors more frequently in the evening for walks/jogs.

Postwo, but i loved to make It first thing am.
With my working schedule I can't anymore first thing am.

OFF Days EOD fasted HITT 4X4 sessions on step mill (twice a week) the third day I do a shorter session on the assault bike 20s/1m for 6-8 rounds.

ON training days which are also EOD at moment I average no less than 15,000 steps throughout the day (part of Justin Harris 's shredded protocol)

Depends if the goal is fat loss/energy expenditure or heart health/training adaptions and what fits into my schedule.

For fat loss i'd prefer in the morning fasted with some lipolytics like albuterol, yohimbine, caffeine, nicotine and having GH taken 3-4h before the cardio.

for heart health it doesnt really matter as long as it doesnt negatively impact my leg training but i would probably perform it better being fed vs fasted

Personally I don’t really believe in the timing of cardio, it just puts you into a bigger defecit no matter the time of day. I’d say dont worry to much about timing and just make sure you get it in when feels right for you. To much stress on the body like punishing yourself to do it fasted isnt great either

I have to do it am before the kids get up for school. Works with my schedule.

I feel this.. When I have time. Sometimes before I lift, and sometimes first thing in morning.

Before and after my weight lifting session.

In the AM post workout. I am up at 4am to get to the gym. I tried doing in the evenings but it did not workout.

For me, with a super busy schedule, I do it when it's most convenient for me but I ALWAYS do it, per my coach. Example, I was on the treadmill at 10:00 last night. Lol!
