Using my prior nutritional and supplement experience regarding ephedrine and laws- before there was no regulation of it since it was considered a food supplement. Companies could make it however they wanted; 25mg, 50mg, 100mg tablets, or selling it in pure powder form, HCL form, or mixed with other supplements, whatever.
After the hearings and evidence of a few possible serious side effects (and/or deaths possibly associated with its use) this is when the courts stepped in and felt it necessary to change a few things. [Even though the people who allegedly used it took waaay too much, didnt drink enough water, didnt watch their diets, overexerted themselves, and were usually taking a dangerous mix of other drugs and/or OTC products as well with NO medical supervision]
Long story short, now there has to be a Warning label on every bottle AND the highest dose any company can make is 10mg per serving.
As long as that is done, its LEGAL in the USA as defined by the FDA.
This doesn't mean your state hasn't enacted new laws of its own to further reduce its sales and use. Possibly even banning it altogether. You would have to check at your local law library to know for sure.
