White coat syndrome

I have a pre employment physical this week and I have white coat syndrome at home my bp is usually good 110/70 maybe up to 130/85 if I eat junk food but days before my visit I start to think about it knowing there gonna just me from waiting room to taking it . Any tips or supplements I could take before .

my doctor makes me take my blood pressure at home and chart it and when I have the appointment he looks at my charts.

my shit gets in the 160’s in the doctors office...is usually 110 at home

I have the exact same issue. I’m a commercial truck driver and have to get my medical card renewed through a DOT physical exam every two years.

What they’ve done for me in the past when it was a bit too high was leave me alone in the room laying down flat out on the table with the lights off for 5 minutes or so to allow me to relax just enough to get my BP within an acceptable range before they come back in and take the reading.

I never understand with the nurses slap on the BP cuff and then start asking you 20 questions. I’m supposed to be silent, with my hand rested on my thigh so I can relax. If you keep asking me questions my BP will naturally rise. It seems like I always say sumthin to the nurse, but I always feel like an asshole after. Cause they always give me a look like I’m hurting their feelings.
