Every day we go to work, taking life for granted at best. We assume everything around us is safe for certain reasons depending on how you structure your life. We choose our jobs based on certainty for the most part. A weekly paycheck. A pension if you’re lucky. A safe environment. Our daily schedule may seem mundane at best but acceptable because we expect certainty from our 9-5 job every day.
So when you read about workers that view these simple principles as we do and find themselves buried 2,000 feet below ground as those in Chile did and grasping for the purest meaning of life. We should all have great respect and admiration of those that come from all corners of the world that respond in a selfish manner to rescuing a fellow human being. When we view movie idols and comic strip superhero’s above those we live amongst I believe we lose the real meaning of what a hero is. This week I think 33 miners know who the real hero’s are and it wasn’t Batman or Superman.
