Well, in my opinion everyone on this board should. I cant even tell you how many i have been to.

There is a great natural show this weekend here in the Los Angeles are called the NPC MAXMUSCLE NATURALS. the name says it all.

Anyways, here in Los Angeles we average about one show a month this time of the year. And I think its great if you guys come out and support your fellow competitors.

I happen to assist with registration and help competitors at the show, also my wife and her business partner are the official contest photographers for the shows out here. They post their photos on www.musculardevelopment.com
and www.musclecontest.com Even before all of this, I was always in attendance either as a competitor or there to support the bodybuilders.

Im just saying guys, if you have a chance, go to bodybuilding shows to support our sport and i believe its highly motivational. After I went to my first show way back when, I knew i wanted to compete. Its a great way to stay motivated!

where have you been? I hope i see you bro, i might be a bit busy during registation but i will catch up to you for sure bro. this is always a pretty good little show

I've never been to a show because I don't know anybody else who would be interested in it, and I'm not enough of a fan to go all by myself.

If I had intentions to compete, I'd want to see as many shows as possible... but for several reasons I don't, one of them being that right now I feel like my genetics are the worst ever. Can't get my arms to grow no matter what I try. Low volume, high volume, low reps, high reps, low training frequency, high frequency, drop sets, paused sets, supersets... I see guys with literally half my strenght and arms bigger than mine

how long have you been training?

are you eating enough?

taking gear?

do you have the mind/muscle connection?

I see people every day in the gym that havent changed in 5 years. Theres allot more to it than just moving weight.

I usually go to several shows per year. Thats exluding the shows that I judge..out here on the East coast...throughout the late spring, summer and down into the fall..there is usually a bodybuilding show a weekend on some level or the other.
I usually try to attend big NPC national qualifers or national shows..some NABBA events.as well as some of the bigger INBF events (pro qualifers etc)...since there is know a greater influx of organizations..some of the talent pool gets a bit diluted..so if you want to see a few exceptional physiques its best to go to the larger shows more often that not. (of course there are exceptions to this as well)
What I see time and time again in many shows is the fact that you get people who have trained for three or so years probably less...who some how feel they are contest worthy..(probably due to a trainer, friends in the gym..prep coach advice) and they NOWHERE close to having the development necessary to do well.
With the advent of figure contest for women athletes in many bodybuilding shows you again have the situation.. certainly belong on stage...while a significant percent should not even think about approaching a stage for the time being.

We'll be there.. the fit by design crew has a couple competitors in that show. The shows are great in California. AZ is a whole other story. As a competitor they are exciting but as a supporter they can be long, long, long days! bring your butt pillow :p

After reading a few posts on here I'm trying to work on the mind-muscle connection. I've been lifting for about 5 years and am definitely eating enough. I'm not one of those guys who haven't changed in 5 years. I went from 145 to 215ish lbs at 5'9 and am one of the strongest guys in the gym. I've had zero problems building up the back and the lower body, it's only the arms that won't grow.
