who uses a 5x5 while on?

I have been doing a 5x5 for the last 7-8 months and love it. I was doing a 5x5 on my last cycle and the strenth gains were great but feel like I probly coulda done more assistance work outside of the 5x5. Wandering how many others use 5x5 during cycles or if you use a split or one body part a day kinda workout.

I did serveral dual factor 5x5 programs and made very good strength gains on them. I do feel like that I didnt get as much hypertropy doing it though. The more conventional 4 or 5 day bodybuilding type split produces more for me. So I did learn from this that more strength does not always mean you have gained muscle mass. It was probably more a matter of training my neverous system to make it more efficient. The second 5x5 I did ended up making my shoulders and knees so sore that I had to quit it 2 weeks early. It was too much on my tendons.
 
Can you explain what a 5x5 is bro?

A 5x5 is 5 sets of 5 reps done at about 85% of your one rep max. it is a good strength builing routine but is brutal. it require maximum effort under the iron. Does yeild good results!
 
i do it or variations of it, goal is low reps for stregth as well as for a dense look that low reps seem to give more than an inflated look that high reppers have, i do all the other rep ranges as well but feel too many do not incorporate enough low reps into their training
 
5x5 are deff intense workouts. Doing heavy squats is almost unbarable having to sit for 5-10 mins in between sets just to let the pump go down enough to do another. I do feel it has developed my legs better than anything else ive used in the past. I think ill start to rotate from 5x5 to a one body part a day routine like I used to do tho just because even tho my focus is on strength I wouldn't mind putting on more muscle and I'm worried about going too heavy for too long and damaging my joints. I'm 5'8 200 and been working out for 10yrs so I've done a lot of different routines in the past just loved how fast my strength went up on a 5x5, it brought me back to almost my old PRs after being out of the gym for a couple years due to an injury.
