I understand nostalgia. Those were special times in bodybuilding. But they were different times.

It seems like many yearning for previous generations are overlooking Classic. Symmetry, condition, balance, proportions. That's the class to a T.

Imagine if this crop of classic guys weren't worried about making weight. They wouldn't place well against the shear mass of today in the Open. But their look would be much closer to some of the previous beloved bodybuilding eras.

This is not what's rewarded though. Otherwise Marty couldn't hold a candle to Bumstead.

Now, it has just evolved into open with a weight cap.

Andrew couldn't even "murder these fuckers." See the point about modern judging standards? If the IFBB wanted 90's physiques, winners would skew in that direction.

Jay and Phil were not 90's physiques, they would have destroyed everyone here. Even Kai, or Dennis. It is not nostalgia, they were just better. Why are people so incessantly adamant that these SpongeBob physiques are what peak bodybuilding should be?

I don't know anyone who insists this is peak bodybuilding.

It won't change unless judging changes.

did you have him do anything... interesting.. or different than what his coaches did in the past? i am interested in knowing what yall did - because he improved significantly over his prior years (at least in my estimation)

and that's significant.. because he's getting pretty old for a bodybuilder still competing at the highest level
