Why are my abs locking up?

I'm real surprised so many people chimed in, I guess I thought it was some problem no one has heard off before

Ill try leaning backwards when it happens next time.

I dont really train my abs all that much, I feel they get a good workout from my other muscles excercises so maybe its overtraining

Ill try to drink more electrolytes during the workout too.

Hell, it happens when i do leg raises towards the end of a long set also

Yeah when you get a cramp you want to stretch that muscle out. So with abs you want to straighten out your torso as much as you can, even hyperextend lying on your back over a bench. Doing the hyperextension works good but then you need help getting up,lol. If you get up on your own then you end up contracting your abs again and go into another spasm.

as said above i would bet magnesium will aleviate. however ZMA is not all its cracked up to be. Zinc should preferably be taken in the am...magnesium (i recommend mag. glycinate) should be taken in the evening preferably with calcium. try 400mg mag glycinate every evening for a bit and see if it doesn't go away...i am of course assuming you are not dehydrated
