Hi brothers. Looking for some advice here please...My right leg have had issues for some time. Talus bone locks up according to my chiro and tibia moves externally rotated. He adjusts this but it's kind of pointless fix as it goes back to wrong position. My knee has been troublesome for quite some time. Years of squatting ( I am a leg day junkie, love squats) I use to get medial knee pain along with excessive hyperextension which I can feel all day while walking and standing still . very annoying. Left knee is parallel to floor holding nice and tight where as right felt wobbly and will go backwards and won't hold itself in a straight line. I was convinced I had a MCL and/ or cruciate ligament issue as I had the pain on medial side. So I had a MRI and the scan is normal !!!!!! Now this is good news indeed and in a way I am happy that I haven't got torn ligaments and cartilages inside it and don't need surgery but the ortho consultant could not explain why my knee would go in excessive hyperextension. He agreed that it does go in hyperextension compare to the normal / left side . I am seeing my physio next week for a assessment.
I find that if I skip legs which I hate but I had to when medial pain come back occasionally the hyperextension actually gets worse . My theory is the regular squatting and other leg work provides constant stimulus to knee and high volume I train which keeps it tighter and straightener more on the neutral alignment. I always feel better much better after leg day, knee hold itself better and does not hyper extend.
What do you think causing the hyperextension ?? Muscle imbalance issues weakness may be ?? Please share your thoughts brother many thanks
