Wife and first show: where to start?

My wife told me saturday she wants to do her first show in November 2013 I think? She is 52-53? lol My wife has competed and won a dead lift comp 2 years ago. She now trains just to stay fit. Nothing in perticular. I asked her what division did she want to go in? Bikini, fitness, bodybuilding? She has no clue what is best suited for her. What is a basic rule of thumb answer that I can give her? Any and all help are much appreciated. (from guys too)


also, any websites where I can point her to go and read about the various divisions would be really helpful too. And also websites that sell posing suits?

My wife did figure for about 5 years, she was always told she was too muscular to do it. She quit competing like a year before they started doing womens physique. If your wife is muscular I would lean her towards that route, unless she has enough muscle to do bodybuilding. Just from experience with figure, you never know what the judges want.. It seems they sway from muscular to softer looks. They want you to come in at 70% of your best. I still dont know what the hell that means..

There are a lot of suit makers on line that will custom make her a suit, or she can rent/purchase an expensive (used) suit for at least half the price of what it would normally cost new.
