I am just starting out in bodybuilding and am not sure how many days a week to go to the gym! Some people say 3 days, some people says 5 days and some books (arnolds and ronnie coleman) say 6 days a week, coul you guys please help me as I am now confused!

Hi There,

If you are just starting weight training then I personally think 3 days is enough.

Anymore is just too much.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday.

Make sure you keep 24 hours between workouts.

To start with trian you whole body in each session for the first 3-6 months and after that start to slit up your bodyparts.

I'm sure you'll be able to find a whole body routine somewhere here.

start off with less days (3) to try to get a feel for your bodys recovery time and what types of weight you can handle at this point. You could try all body workouts or a 3 day split such as: Mon Chest, Shoulders, Triceps. Wed. Quads, Hams, Calves. Fri. Abs, Back, Bis
 
good ideas!

These are great ideas, and just what I would've said, too.

The only thing I'd add is that you should try to stick with basic, compound movements like squats, deadlifts, benches, dips, overhead barbell presses, chins, rowing, shrugs, and things of that sort.
 
Compounds movement are great!!

I'm not sure if people agree with me on this one, but maybe do a type of power lifting routine to pack on the base muscle.

No you wil never grow, quit now. LOL. dude if your a newbie u should be in the beginners forum #1. Number 2, your gonna grow no matter what you do, its called beginner results. Stop analyzing all this and just work the muscles hard, rest them, n feed them. Plain n simple

Amen, keep it simple. Do basic compound movements with free weights, eat good food and rest. ;)
