The power look. This is Will Ratelle someone I follow on Instagram. He is a compound lift guy. Rows deads squats cleans dips etc. to me he has that look of power. Thick dense physique at 240 and I know he isn’t shredded etc but I do still believe that his type of training builds a look that machine based training doesnt. I know a load will go weight is weight snd the muscle only knows tension but I personally disagree. What’s your thoughts.
I actually think these types of physiques are a great look. Just real powerhouse look. Like freestyle wrestlers.

Load is load. Weight is weight. The muscle only sees resistance.

The difference is with machines that resistance is highly focused into target muscles. With free weight, especially compound, that resistance is also stablised and moved by supporting muscles, "stabilisers" and parts of the kinetic chain not activated by machine work.

This is why you see a thicker, denser look with those who predominantly train SBD over machines.
