Wrist Straps/Supports

I'm 37 and have been training many years, but have just noticed that my wrists are starting to get a little tender and sore.

Do any of you guys use wrist supports/straps when pressing?

The pain isn't too bad at all, but want to nip this in the bud before it gets worse.

I tend to press as heavy as possible (within reason).

Thanks for any advice.

I use writs wraps for most of my pressing movements which stemmed from a wrist injury. After the injury had healed I continued to use them as they felt comfortable and added support as I continued to progress in weight with my pressing movements.

As for any pulling exercises I feel that wrist straps are extremely useful. Anytime you can increase weight while keeping proper form I feel that it will be beneficial in building muscle :D

If I were you I would check out APT pro wrist wraps who is a sponsor here. They have the best lifting equipment period. Everything I use is from them from my knee sleeves to custom straps. Check them out!

Big BUMP - and their knee wraps are awesome, too!

i started out with powerlifting at an early age

had the pleasure of training that style with a bunch of elite guys that trained in a very private group. top nats guys, a worlds guy and top 50 all-time masters guy, as they took me in

i guess they saw my lifts, as i was strong teen

as i learned i was better equipped for bodybuilding, they accepted that and i continued to train with these men for years....i would accompany them to meets, they would accompany me to shows....yadda yadda

anyway...lol long story short

i use wrist wraps on anything over 2 plates on presses and have been for 15 years now and NEVER had a problem with my wrists
bench
military
bells
closegrips

if i dont have them i feel naked

Thanks guys.

I'll either order them online, but do need a pair quickly so I might get some on the way home tonight.

I've noticed my wrists sometime click at the slightest movement, not painful just uncomfortable.

i used to use straps every time i could no matter the weight.... i naturally have small forearms and this didnt help.... my grip suffered and now i am trying to get it back to where it was...i only use the straps on heavy sets and burnout sets

Sounds like some wraps will do you good for the pressing/pain issue. Worth it to get some good ones as the issues you are describing are general chronic "overuse" issues most likely.
