X-Factor for an 11 year old girl?

Check this idiot out.

Here's the situation:

My 11 year old daughter is an aspiring athlete. She swims year round and plays basketball and softball. She currently takes vitamin A, B12, C, D and E, fish oil and the occassional protein shake.

The other day, she was dragging after school and didn't want to go to practice. So, I gave her a 1/4 teaspoon of AAKG and a 1/4 teaspoon of Glucuronolactone. I asked her how practice went, she said it went GREAT and she didn't get tired!! She wants to use the stack during her swim meets, but she is only 11.

I don't want her to use stimulants. Supplements I would be interested in her using would be Krebs Cycle intermediates like AAKG, Glycerol, Malates or NADH. Would any of these types of supplements be bad for her? (My research says no.) I agree she's too young to use these things on a regular basis, but I support the idea of her using these things during swim meets and on gameday.

I appreciate anyone's educated advice and opinion. Thanks in advance! TQ

Aet - Thanks for stopping by! I'm going to try X-factor next month This is also another supplement I contemplate letting my daughter try. Especially, after I read this about Arachadonic Acid: Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arachidonic_acid
Since it's deemed as essential, it could be any worse than Fish Oil?

Since my daughter swims year round, we use this diet:
**broken link removed**

I am interested in your carbohydrate choices though. We eat multi-grain and bran mostly. Is millet, spelt and quinoa have a lower GI? What makes Carlson Fish oil so special?

Funny you mention Soy, cuz she is also influenced by my anti-phytoestrogen, pro-Saponin diet.
Phytoestrogen: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoestrogens
Saponin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saponins

she's 11...there's no need for her to be using supplements at all. her own raw athletic ability and level of skill will determine how she does. i would really be conscious of giving a kid that young supplements because they could (and in my opinion very likely will) develop the type of mentality that they NEED the supplement to compete. if i were you and want to help her the most, i would teach her how to enjoy competing, and practice her skills. teach her that skill and hard work will get her farther than any supplement will.

i agree w/ flex here. no need for her to even consider using supplements. i wouldnt even give her the fish oil or a protein shake. mabye a flintstones vitamin. if shees dragging she needs some rest, not a pick me up for practice. she is young she is still growing do not push her too far, children a alot more susceptable to growth plate injuries. keep that in mind. swimming is 99.9% technique. work on it and rest.

just give her a placebo and she wont be able to notice a difference..

Gotta be kidding. Shes 11. I didnt even start giving my BROTHER anything until he was 15 and it was mostly whey protein and a multi. He used creatine for like a month i think...thats it..... i say def no

She's still going and just needs healthy food and rest. If she's a swimmer, she's getting more than plenty exercise.

May want to try a little mind over matter psycology with the lass. My brother did this with his son for football and its amazing. Take a regular vitamin and tell her its something else. Tell her its an undetectable HGH pill... whatever, be creative. She will accept the tab to be such and will improve her performance based on that belief!

Whoa! Deep shit huh?

go with suspension and see how she feels ... if you start to see side effects lower the dose :D :p

Conagher, I am in the beginning stages of training a 9yr old female. Her parents are gearing her towards the Olympic Gymnastics. Besides having her CBC done. The rest I am doing naturally. Having her pick up some extra fish and chicken here and there. And plenty of dark leafy greens. Plenty of fruits. Seriously, I have no clue where you are going with your daughter. And very confused as to why the supplements at 11.

My advice to you would be get her to a Doctor. Have a CBC done,(she is not to young for this) THEN take her to a board certified Nutritionalist who is "sports savey". Let the nutritionalist guide her in her growth pattern. Supps, IMHO should never be used on a 11yr old. Especially when it's in the form of stimulants. At 11years young her heart is to young for stimulants. If you ruin her now, you will definatly ruin her chances for anything later on in life. Good luck my friend.

I know you meant that as a joke bro, but please don't joke like that. There are some very fooking nutty ass parents out there that really would do it. Not saying Conagher would. But hey you never know. And he is trying to really educate himself when he is asking for help. Thankx for understanding bro!

You are such an idiot.....

Abombs would be MUCH more effective! :D itl help her endurance

Just to clarify, this is not my daughter.Sorry that my post wasn`t very clear. The guy wanted feedback on it from another board made up mostly of dumbass teenagers,so I wanted to get some input on it from mature people educated in the field of supplementation and training.
The daughter belongs to the Tom Quintana individual listed in my first post.

Well if she is the atypical American girl her mother will have her cramming birth control hormones down her throat soon, so wtf?
Why not just go all out and pull a Marion Jones?:D

Let the kid be a kid. Whatever happened to having fun.

No wonder why we are having so many troubles with our society. We teach kids they need to pop pills to succeed, put undue pressure on them to win at all cost. Teach directly and indirectly through modeling pills solve their problems, make their troubles and pain go away, pills make to make us feel good, pills to escape from everything etc.

Its unfortunate that there are some good members on the board giving good advice to young members that AAS are not needed and hard work first and nutrition are key, work to your potential, but the fact of the matter is that this all is most likely going to be ignored by many. Could it be that we as society have made taking a pill part of are culture and embedded it in are children at a young age that this is second nature to us regardless of risk etc etc. because were taught its good for us both physically, and psychologically.

Parents need to relax. If you want to see what a kid turns out like when parents get too involved with them excelling in sports and strict with diet and don't let them be kids do a google search on Todd Marinovich. He was a QB for USC back in the day. I don't think an 11 year old needs supplements under any circumstance, besides maybe a multi if they just refuse to eat veggies and fruits, which some kids are like. I would think that if a kid is tired at 11 they may need some blood work done because I don't think I have met a kid that was ever tired at 11. See if she has a food allergy that she doesn't know about but honestly if a parent is giving their child stimulants of any kind at 11 they should have their child taken from them. I don't care if it's something as over the counter as red bull. Kids shouldn't be taking stimulants period

I don't usually say much on here, just more of a lurker/learner, but this one touched a nerve. I have a daughter that is 11 and is into alot of activities. I know the temptation to "help them out" on a slow day with a red bull or something, but I would never give it to her. I agree with rotty on this one, this is bordering on child abuse. Their young bodies are still developing and god only knows what might happen later in life because of the supps they were given at 11. We just make sure she takes her multi-vitamin (meant for kids) everyday and has a good nutritious diet, until Sunday when we go to golden corral and go nuts at the dessert bar.

Wow, you had me scared there for a second...I saw my post was highlighted and then your first few words....I thought you were going to take the opposite point of view. I'm so glad you didn't and I'm happy to hear you are keeping the crap away from your daughter. I don't have any kids and I'm sure it's a handfull worrying about all the shit you can't control that is in the world and all the shit that they are going to want to experiment with or are going to at least be tempted to experiment with
