Man what a year y'all
Feb/2025 Mother passed in hospice couldn't see her but (but was able to speak to her)..
Many supportive comments and few encouraged me to make the trip but was unable to due to work.

July/2025 my younger brother text me and said Dad is in the hospital and is yellow "jaundice".

This time job or no job I shot right out...
when I got there he was awake an coherent, we spoke, we shared and we Loved, I made any all things within my power right that day...
Next day he had an episode and basically they put him on pressors (his body was shutting down).
My brother flew in (we don't talk much if at all), we spent time with him and He and I talked a lot.

I am posting this to say, those comments from the other post made an impact on me and had I have not gone or even waited, I would not have had the closure nor the restoration between me and my brother.
Now were not BFF's :ROFLMAO: but we text every week or so with little things (that to me aren't so little)...

Driving home the first thought I had was, Fuck, I can no longer call my Mom or Dad
Death is a crazy topic and when it gets real, it get real..

Very sorry to hear that man. My dad died when I was 35 (7 years ago) and he lives about 8 hours away. I got right in the car and drove there and had a great day with him talking and spending time together in the hospital before he passed. You don't always get those opportunities and I'm glad I did...glad you did as well.

sorry for your loss. LIFE is not fair and we have to keep going when things get tough. Appreciate your loved ones people.

I personally find the routines of bodybuilding very helpful in times like these, just dont get reckless and lose sight of the longterm.

We are here for you.

At that point in life now.. Though my dad passed 40 yrs ago (1985) at age 47. (I was 19).
Ma has been OK, her family has great genetics. She did just get her little toe amputated, though its not diabetes.
(She had an infection and decided to do some bathroom surgery, made it much worse and the redline was traveling up the leg).
Not clever for an 82 yr old. (Or for anyone I guess).

Wife's parents are basically like they are my own. Basically took me in when I was 16 (1983) as I was their daughters boyfriend, and tossed out of my house.
I've been extremely close to them, I consider them my own parents basically. My home life was tough, and they were/are basically extremely loving/caring, always have been.
Both are 80 and struggling a bit (that time in life). Cancer, COPD, stents, hip fractures, etc... Sad to see... Is what it is and we go on...

Wife and I have been together since (42 yrs, married for 36) and still best friends. Train together, etc...

All the best to you and yours...

Sorry to hear man, that’s an insane amount of loss in a very short time… hope you’re dealing well and plugging into your family and friends support system- avoid isolation, I did that when my dad passed years ago (because we Latin men are “tough as nails macho types” 🙄😬) , and it did not put me in a good mental and spiritual place…

So sorry to hear this brotha. I'm kinda in the same situation with my brother as well. We only really text each other on holidays and birthdays.....and he lives 30min from me.

Mom & Dad .....it's been several years now. I actually stopped by their grave yesterday. Said a few things to them out loud and actually got choked up.....first time in awhile. Told them I missed 'em and told dad he has a birthday coming up....he'll be 101 this year. They were married for 61 years.....and still if you ask me.

Don't be afraid to reach out my friend.

Very sorry to hear my condolences

Very sorry to hear that man. You will get through this, and you aren't alone.

I lost my father 6 years ago, I had to tell the medical team to stop doing CPR when he had cardiac arrest. He was very sick for a long time.

Lost my grandfather a few months after that.

Lost my grandmother (whom I took care of and lived with me for 6 years) 3 months ago to cancer, she was in hospice and I was with her during her last breathes.

I go to two separate cemetaries every week and have seen sickness up close for a long time. Losses in life don't get easier, but they do teach you the value of time and the mortality of our own lives. The cemetery is the final destination, so treating life with a presence of being is an absolute otherwise we will all be at the end of our rope with questions as to how we got there.

Shit man, tough news to hear, been through it myself, and I miss him everyday. I know you dont know me, but if you ever find yourself needing a neutral ear, I can always make myself available.

Sorry for your loss! Losing your parents is never easy. I’m losing my father fairly soon due to cancer. I suspect my mother won’t be far behind.

We don’t have much of a relationship, but I’m planning on visiting them real soon. Just to see them one last time.

Got an older bro that I don’t talk with much myself.. Reached out to see if he wanted to fly down and meet up, but he blew me off. Oh well, I tried to do something abt it.

Anyways, glad you were able to settle any open issues for you and yours!!!!

I lost my mother when I was young. Do to circumstances beyond my control (someone else dropped the ball), red cross message never got to me in time so I never made it home for goodbyes.

My dad died about 10 years back. About a year after he died I was talking to my sister, and I said "How is he doing?" I forgot he died.

For anyone who lost a parent and cared, I get it. For those of you who maybe forgot...I get you too.

Let the people you know that you love, that you love them. Even if it's a close friend. I have friends who I tell them when I leave "love you man." OFC they all tell me I'm gay but hey. it's true.

Damn man, that’s a heavy year to go through. Sorry for your losses. Sounds like you did the right thing making the trip when you did, even if work tried to get in the way. Being able to share those last moments and clear the air with both your dad and your brother is something that will stick with you forever. That kind of closure isn’t guaranteed for a lot of people. Stay strong, and it’s good you’ve got at least a small line open with your brother now, those little texts mean more than most people realize.

sorry for your loss man, my pops passed several years ago, my mom passed this past May and it was and still is some hard shit for me to deal with, its still surreal to me.

Sorry to hear about your losses. I have had family go through some stuff while on the other side of the world. It's never easy.

Sorry for your loss brother

I feel you , worst year of my life was last year

End September died my father and November died my brother

Sorry for your loss brother I will say a prayer for your family. God Bless.
It’s hard, try to think of all the good memories and make them proud.

I lost my older brother last year who would be 39 on a deployment and it was tough to handle but i remember what he loved doing and that makes him live on forever.
