I agree with Knight9. Progressive overload and time under tension. That said, I'm just talking about hypertrophy. I've done it all and I can only speak for what has worked for me. And yes, with progressive overload, you will get stronger. It's not the end goal....it's a means to an end. The OP does state "world class" and I would say the majority are not even seeking that.
