Studies show that levels of testosterone have been declining over the last several decades in men of the same age group. Testosterone levels decline normally with age but for instance, a 40-yr-old man in 1990 may have 20 or 30 percent less naturally occurring testosterone than the same aged man in 1970.

This has led to a pretty hefty boom in the medical community. Steroids are still highly illegal on the black market because of their danger yet 2.5 million prescriptions per year are written for it. It's a 500million dollar industry in the US alone.

A recent article I read suggests staying away from certain personal care products (certain shampoos, etc.), obesity, and so forth but I'm not so sure (and apparantly I'm not the only one) that these are the culprit. The article suggests that more and more men, wanting to feel better and healthy later in life, are disregarding the hassles of going through their healthcare professionals and I quote, "...are taking matters into their own hands."

Do you find it strange that while testosterone levels have very obviously been on the decline (even obvious to the medical community), the penalties for treating the symptoms of low testosterone without a doctor, have been on the incline? No matter what, I'm not suggesting anyone use AAS without a doctor's supervison, even if it's for performance enhancement because you need bloodwork, etc.

Any roaming theories out there on any of this?

take care,

Very interesting info OTH! I still can't figure from all the variables in life if it's just environment or something more hereditary!?!

That ad burn a tattoo image on my brain. I cant! LMFAO... Now when I'm in the gym I just show them that pic when they ask me who my trainer is. :D Usually, they say "No, not that kind of training!" :p

yepp, and it is the POLLUTION of the earth that does it...

its happening all around us, we can see it, we hear about it, but HUMANS does not just give a fuck about it. and it will eventually be the end of man.

ex we hear about frogs and fishes with no real gender, a mix between the 2, transsexual from living in the water near factorys... like in simpson haha... but seriously... its the truth.

And another big reason is all the medical shit people take, when you pee it out it stays in the water, you cant filter it away, in London for example, ive seen some studies about it, there is so much traces of medical drugs in the tap water you literally drink a cocktail of other peoples fuckin med drugs. ITS disgusting... plus all the fuckin chemicals and polluted shit in the water...

humans are going to exploit the earth until no human can live here... and its going downhill in 200mph, in ten years everything will be so fucked.. you would fuckin cry if you knew...

My theory is the increasingly sedentary and stressful lifestyle we live with unhealthy diets may be the big contributing factor for declining levels of testosterone in men. Factor in all the pollutants we are exposed to and bingo!

Now as far as the increased penalties for possessing testosterone without a docs script.... Go down to your local pharmacy and ask how much a months supply costs for (the name brand) Testim 1% gel. I'll save you a little road trip. Its a fucking $250.00!!!!!! Ever heard of a little thing called the pharmaceutical lobby? Want to talk about the money and power behind that?

So....When's the world gonna end?...Seriously

I read somewhere that the same thing is happening to crocodiles in polluted water. They have such low androgen levels, they can't grow large enough genitals to reproduce.

Well, thumbs up for drugs or down?

I think brick is on the right track here. My take on this is it's our diets. Think back to the BBers of the 's and 70's. Whole milk was just that, whole. Eggs were real eggs and the wheat and grains we ate were much less refined. Now with all the modern processing and add to that the widespread use of chemicals to treat everything someone can't convnce me that this has not had an influence on dropping or fluctuating hormone levels in men as well as women.

Big pharma? You don't have to tell me about that. It's a monster in itself.

That article is in this month's issue of Men's Health. It's probably the worst magazine on the planet for workout advice but it has a lot of info on diet and supps (and the shit in this thread)...

Oh and another thing about that magazine... the men in the ads might as well throw on a wig and just be women because they're already looking quite femme.

i totally buy this, its prob not just bcuz of food, its because everyone is getting lazier n eating big macs all day long so our bodies are regressing

I have to agree that the sedentary lifestyle that people lead, long hours at work, less recreation time, the increase in environmental estrogens(from pesticides and plastics) are wreaking havoc on testosterone levels. And I'm sure there are many other factors at work here too. We need to stop screwing with Mother Nature, period.

PB

If I remember correctly ,birth control pills(estrogen,and/or progesterone) became very popular/mainstream in the 60s..........billions of gallons of estrogen filled urine have been flushed down the drain for the last 40+ years.I dont think there are many women alive in the USA that havent been on "the pill" at one time or another.Ive also read that things like primrose oil (used in soaps and shampoos) have been shown to cause gyno in teen boys:( Multiple chemicals and plant sterols(sp) have been shown to activate the estrogen receptor.Stress+lazyness:confused:
