Okay, it doesn't really have to be 10 but list 5-10 songs (or albums) that have had a major impact on your life or resonate with you in a very deep way. I'm not talking about the latest growling metal band who's name you won't know in 3 years but the music that year after year, still holds a special place with you.

These don't have to be your favorite songs at the moment or maybe ever but left an impression on you.

For instance, here are 10 of mine in no particular order:

1. Mercy Street - Peter Gabriel
2. Thirty Three - Smashing Pumpkins
3. Pictures of You - The Cure
4. Fake Plastic Trees - Radiohead
5. Simon and Garfunkel - The Boxer
6. Don't Think Twice It's Alright - Bobby Dylan
7. Fly From Heaven - Toad The Wet Sprocket
8. Run - Snow Patrol
9. Angels or Devils - Dishwalla
10. The Boy With The Thorn In His Side - The Smiths

They don't have to be workout songs but surely can be. Can be anything. And it doesn't have anything to do with being cool and trying to impress - hell, I almost added Kenny Rogers' Coward of the County! Beat that! But I remember singing along to that song with my parents when we were on roadtrips when I was a boy.

Cool idea!

The first that came to mind...

Life During Wartime - Talking Heads
Once in a Lifetime - Talking Heads
Birdhouse in Your Soul - They Might be Giants
La Vida es un Carnival - Celia Cruz
Ave Maria - Pavarotti (and I’m not even religious)

the verve-bittersweet
pearl jam-ledbetter
tool-undertow
dave matthews-crash
counting crows-colorblind

"God's Gonna Cut You Down" - Jonny Cash
"Hurt" - Johnny Cash
"Only God Know's Why" - Kid Rock
"Not Enough" - Our Lady Peace
"Peace In The Valley" - Various Artists
"A Country Boy Can Survive" - Hank Williams Jr.
"Bittersweet Symphony" - The Verve
"Rainin'" - Sponge

Top 10?! This is too tough for me right now...

I got me some Social D, Korn, and Pennywise though right now...:headbang:

You can't think of one or two songs that hit you in the chest and maybe for some reason you know or some reason you don't - doesn't matter.

We all got that soft, chewy middle. For example if someone said that a song that really touched their soul was Devil's Island by Megadeth it would say something different about that person than if they said Abba's Dancing Queen.

There's no quiz later. You're not getting graded on this. Humor the old man.

1. Snuff - slipknot
2. Faithless - social d
3. Footprints on my ceiling - social d (again)
4. Don't take me for granted - social d (yet again...hmmm, trend here, for the record I wouldn't advise anybody to listen to one particular album or band during a divorce, just not a great idea, lol)
5. No Disturb Sign - beres hammond

One that comes to mind: Metallica - Four Horsemen!!

I listen to a lot of Oi, Old School Hardcore, some punk rock...Hard, fast, angry music!!

I like any song that you can drink, fight or fuck to

A few

I went the album route. The compilation of a single theme.

The Wall
Wish you were here
Avalon
Mr B's Ninth Symphony
Tunnel of Love
Just about anything by Paul Simon (a good day, ain't got no rain. A bad day is when I lie in bed and think of things that might have been)

And of course the wiggles. Because my kids would just sit there and watch. And I could chill.

Songs: The Light-Common
Sadeness-Enigma
Theme from Harry's Game-Clannad
The Ghetto-Eric B. & Rakim
Wonderwall-Oasis
Anything from the Belly Album-Portishead

How's that for diversity..

Pink Floyd's The Wall and Wish You Were Here... also Dark Side of the Moon

Forgot about those!

album: Iron Maiden Piece of Mind

One that comes to mind: Metallica - Four Horsemen!!
Old school! Nice!

Seek and Destroy
No Remorse
Motorbreath (Don't stop for nothing, it's full speed or nothing!"

and...

My list has also evolved as my life has unfolded. Songs that spoke to me so deeply, seem sorta meaningless and hollow these days.

Example; during a major rough spot in my life and I was feeling down years ago, I would listen The Cure's "Disintegration", or anything Brian Ferry, especially "Mamouna", Morphine's "Cure for Pain" was awesome... now I don't play them. But I still have those old CDs in my "don't pitch" collection. I guess because it speaks about a chapter in my life story.

pink floyd-the final cut, love this album over all pf

The best I have this second is Bro Hymn when going into war with true buds.
