GS and Doberman question

Does anyone own one of each breed? I have a male GS that turns 4 this Aug, and I've also always wanted to get a male Dobie, but I've been talking to some local people and I'm being told that their personalities wouldn't match up and it's not a good mixture to have.

I was also told by a local woman that a good breeder wouldn't even sell a Doberman to me once he finds out that I have a GS.

Is this woman and these other guys off their nut, or are they correct? I know all dogs vary in personality, but in general, is it a bad idea?

I am a GSD kind of guy, but I like dobbies as well. They are both guard dogs, but their style and general temperment arent the same, so they can have 'cultural' issues. At the same time, every dog is different, so super broad generalizations arent the best.

Take your GSD to a dog park and see how he reacts to other large guard breeds.

Lol at dogs not matching personalities.

I have two GSD's, they're sisters and polar opposites. Raised the same, trained the same, loved the same, completely different personalities and interact with other dogs differently.

I'd say get the Dobie if you want one, they'll be fine. If a breeder chooses not to sell you one because you have another breed of dog, he/she is a retard and isn't worth associating with, let alone buying a dog from.

Well I'm pretty late on this one but I think you'll be just fine lol

Yeah id say go get one. Chances are they'd be best friends. I have a pitbull and an australian shephard, two very different breeds and they woiuldnt know what to do without each other they are so close. I also have a buddy with two dobies and both my dogs get along with his just fine.

They very well coud clash personalities, but I doubt it. Especially if you treat both the same. Don't do anything to one that you don't due to the other. Jeleousy issues do happen obviously.
