Just curious who here deadlifts.. and are you a bodybuilder or powerlifter? I love them, but popped my lower back doing them today and it scared me.. considering either dropping them or switching to rack pulls...
 
I deadlift... Not a bber or power lifter... I'm a strongman
 
Can't think of why anyone wouldn't deadlift. Doesn't matter what sport...
 
not since i broke my neck but before i loved them put the most size on my legs when i started doing them just kept a quality belt on and didnt try to lift the world and stopped anytime i noticed i wasnt using proper form

Well as i stated in the original post my lowerback popped really heavy when doing them today and it scared me.. i mean, i love them, but it got me thinking it isnt worth throwing my back out
 
Yeah years ago I used a belt an gloves lol. Stopped that around 2000. Since then no belt, just straps.

General consensus im getting is over 400 people use belts lol, definitely going to start doing this.. i only do heavy (2-4) reps on deads, to me i feel like deadlift is more beneficial at heavy weight.. i feel more of a cardio workoit if i go high rep lol. So belt from now on it is..
 
I do hang cleans and then do DLs.

All warmed up. At 49 I don't push too hard on the compound stuff, but for overall strength, I hope to be doing the big lifts till the end. I use a belt - it reminds me to pay attention to my back more than for support and I use straps because I have a wife and a GF so my grip strength isn't as good as the rest of you guys.

I pulled 635 the other day with no belt...
 
Recently moved them to the end of my back workout.....not sure why I never tried this years ago:(......a little less weight, but really works the upper back

I think Jrod makes me do extra legs for the both of us. I haven't been able to walk right in two days. Ouch!

Don't think I get any sympathy either... he's still asking me to bend over as I walk by. Haha!
